WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Sit in with the cussing, sexist, racist, leather jacketed a-hole Andrew “Dice” Clay as he hits his peak career-wise during two sold-out Madison Square Garden stand up shows. OHHHH!
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
When the Dice Man was all the rage in the 90’s, everybody and their uncle’s dunce turned on him for his offensive brand of humor. Personally, how anybody can take a man who spurts “X Rated Nursery Rhymes” seriously is beyond me. Even MTV banned the lad for life when he cussed at an Awards show! That was a first at the time! I personally always found the D-man to be freakin' hilarious and I actually saw “DICE RULES” in the theatres, wearing my “DICE” T-shirt no less. I guess I wasn’t the only mook who thought he was comical where he accomplished something that most stand-up comedians could only dream of, as they wait tables on weekdays...he filled up the Madison Square Garden...four nights in a row. WOW! Take that to the bank and cash it!

DICE RULES chronicles two of Clay’s Madison Square Garden shows. Before the main event, we’re treated to a series of sketches that account how DICE became DICE. The bits are childish, some of them fall flat, but overall I laughed my butt off with the Doctor and the Gas Station segments (featuring an always-sidesplitting Eddie Griffin) being the highlights. After that, it was on with the show where akin to a politically incorrect bully, Dice proceeds to pick on, insult and mock everything and everybody. In our society, it's “wrong” to snicker at midgets, homosexuals, handicaps, minorities and women and that is why (coupled with his amusing Fonz-like demeanor) DICE’s ramblings are highly humorous to me....the taboo factor. Although I did find the concert too short and could’ve done without DICE belting out a tacky tune at the end, I had an overall L.A. riot with this vulgar piece of trashy delight. Will you?
THE EXTRAS
We get ZERO extras on this DVD. Bummer.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
The DVD is bare bones, but the show owned me for its duration. Is DICE offensive? Yes, and that’s the point! He did what Eminem is doing today...pushing sensitive buttons in the name of entertainment. The question is...will you groove on the Evil Fonzie and his crass routine? Let’s test you out, here’s a Dice joke: “If I'm out with a chick, I drop a load. That's the way I am. If I buy her coffee, I don't care if I have to follow her down the fucking driveway jerking off; I’m dropping a load in her presence." Do you find this funny? YES? Check the disc out. NO? Then don’t! To me, that heartwarming anecdote is UNBELIEVABLE….OHHHH!
