WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Alex Borstein (of Family Guy and MadTV) performs a live standup. No hilarity ensues.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Alex Borstein is about as funny as, well, a female standup comedian. Or that PMS-ridden, chocolate-loving Cathy in the Sunday paper. Let’s face it, folks, the last great female comedian was Eddie Izzard.

For those who don’t know who Alex Borstein is, she’s Ms. Swan on MadTV (you know, “He looka like a man!”…never gets old) and nasally Lois Griffin on Family Guy. She’s a seasoned professional at annoying the hell out of everyone.

For an hour, Borstein tries out her Sarah Silverman shtick, which melts quickly in the hands of an amateur. Borstein’s attempts at shocking her audience (with words like “niggas” and “cunt”) are inches from embarrassing—poor material strung together with lazy delivery.

Drop Dead Gorgeous, In a Down-to-Earth Bombshell Sort of Way feels like Open Mic Night at the Cuckoo Comedy Club, as Borstein flubs with constant “Umms” and self-induced giggling. The least she could’ve done was material that’s up-to-date. Find me one person who still laughs at jokes about Natalie Merchant and The Facts of Life, and I’ll show you Alex Borstein.

Die-hard fans of certain comedians will always back themselves up with “You just don’t “get” it.” Well, it should be known that I “get” Borstein’s jokes. In fact, I almost smiled at one.
THE EXTRAS
Behind-the-Scenes of Family Guy with Alex Borstein (12:12): 12 minutes of Borstein walking around as she drops in on conference rooms, comments on Pop-Tarts and toilets, and records for an episode. Hey look, it’s Puddy from Seinfeld!
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Drop Dead Gorgeous, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is a painfully unfunny standup. Don't expect a laugh-out-loud time just because of the shameful Family Guy link plastered on the DVD cover.
