On the negative side of things, IKWYDLS has a lot of flaws. The most important of which is the final payoff at the end, which was such a let down that I would’ve cried had I really cared all that much. The psycho killer looks like a friggin’ pussy! Ugh. Lame. I’ve also heard a lot of people comment on how cool and creepy the baddie is in this (you know, with his ‘scary’ hook and ‘terrifying’ fishing garb). Honestly people! He’s a fisherman! Ugh. Lame. The next big issue I had with the film was some of the murders. When it came time to take apart the side characters, the movie delivered the gory goods in spades, but when it was time for some of main players to get their due, it was hardly visible. Ugh. Laaaaaaame.
Now onto the lesser of two evils (or is it greater?), I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. Here’s some words/phrases that adequately describe this lackluster sequel: by the numbers, astonishingly stupid, mildly entertaining, lame characters, bland execution... I’d continue, but that would be giving this movie way too much attention. Seriously, I don’t feel like talking about this film in the least, and you shouldn’t feel like reading about it. Basically, it’s a painfully stupid experience, and everything that was good about the first is ruined here. It is, however, entertaining regardless, especially with the brief presence of Jack Black (no matter how lame his character is). In the end though, you’re left with this feeling that’s so... “blah”. Yes, that’s it. It’s very “blah”. So there you have it, one amusing and fun horror flick, and a second not-so-fun-or-amusing horror flick.
Because of the issue with the extras, I will only discuss the ones I was able to watch.
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER:
Director’s Commentary: Director Jim Gillespie and editor Steve Mirkovich are the speakers here, with Gillespie discussing all the different aspects of making his film, and Mirkovich bringing some structure to the precedings by asking Jim interesting questions.
The film’s Trailer is also included.
I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER:
”Making of” Featurette: A standard and brief making of. Skip it.
There is also a Music Video for “How Do I Deal” by Jennifer Love Hewitt, as well as Previews.
