WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Jen (Katherine Heigl) just got dumped by her nerdy boyfriend, so she goes on vacation to France with her parents (Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara). While there she meets Spencer (Ashton Kutcher), a professional killer who she immediately hits it off with. He leaves the killing business for her but after a few years of quiet, married life, his past comes back to haunt them. Somebody puts a $20 million contract on his head, and the rest of the flick is pretty much just Katherine and Ashton running around.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I never go into a movie wanting to hate it but I will admit that I had very low expectations for KILLERS. Romantic Comedies with people more famous for being themselves in tabloids than for their movie roles tend to be pretty shitty. There is nothing new or interesting about KILLERS but if you just want to turn your brain off for a hundred minutes and look at some pretty people, you could probably do worse.

Even though I was a fan of THAT 70's SHOW, this is actually the first Ashton Kutcher movie I've ever watched (unless you count his small role in REINDEER GAMES). He's pretty likable and even a little understated here but it doesn't seem like he has the acting talent to be the lead in anything besides a flick like KILLERS. Katherine Heigl is at her shrill and annoying worst but her character actually evolves a bit as the movie progresses, so she wound up coming across OK.

The real stars of the movie though are the unconventional supporting cast. You just don't expect to see Martin Mull pop up in a movie like this, and it's definitely better off for it. Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara are great as Katherine Heigl's parents. Tom Selleck in particular was a perfect piece of casting, even if there are a few too many easy mustache jokes. It's impossible to look away from the screen when he's on it. Former SNL and THE DAILY SHOW cast member Rob Riggle is very solid in his role as a friend of the family. Some more Riggle would've definitely gone a long way in helping the movie.

Overall, I was surprised to find that KILLERS wasn't completely awful. It's predictable and I'd never call it good or even average but I was rarely bored and it's pretty competently made.
THE EXTRAS
Killer Chemistry: Behind the Scenes with the KILLERS Cast and Crew - More painful to watch than most of these studio produced puff pieces. Once the producer says the flick worked so well because Ashton is exactly like Cary Grant, I tuned out.

Gag Reel - One of the worst gag reels I've ever seen. At least it's only a minute long.

Deleted/Extended Scenes - These wouldn't have added much of anything to the movie. There are a few more seconds of Riggle but not enough to make a difference.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS
The video and sound quality of the disc is great but it doesn't make up for the movie kinda sucking and the lack of worthwhile special features.
