The real brilliance of this film is the actors, particularly Liam Neeson and Laura Linney. They do such a wonderful job capturing emotions and bizarre quirks that you canít help but keep your eyes on them. If only the real life counterparts were as interesting we would have a real sleeper hit. Seeing as how many of my issues with the flick seem to be personal peeves, Iím not positive as to how many others will agree with them. With that in mind, you should decide just how interested you are in sex as a science, the actors present, and the man himself, Alfred Kinsey. If you are intrigued by those three things then Iím sure youíll fall in love with KINSEY. Part of me did, but the rest fell asleep.
Commentary (with writer/director Bill Condon): An engaging and informative commentary that gives the listener an overall feel of what he was doing during the making of the film. Check it out.
The Kinsey Report: Sex on Film (1:23:31): This starts off as your basic, boring ďmaking-ofĒ featurette, consisting of plenty of interviews and film clips. If you wait it out thought, there is some interesting information and entertaining discussions, not to mention plenty of cool behind-the-scenes footage. Overall, itís a very lengthy and in-depth watch for fans.
Deleted Scenes (24:44 Ė with optional commentary by Condon): We get 18 of them. Many of these are very entertaining, and as the director states, were cut for the length and flow of the movie. I especially enjoyed some of the extra character development presented, as well as the informative commentary.
Gag Reel (2:58): A surprisingly hilarious set of clips. Sex is one subject that is always ripe for joking about, and they prove it here.
Sex Ed. at the Kinsey Institute (6:35): A brief, but informative and interesting glimpse of a sex exhibit. There is some history explained, and also various ideas discussed, but be forewarned that itís visual in places.
Interactive Sex Questionnaire: A very cool addition to the DVD. 45 questions are given for you to answer, and based on your score it analyzes the information. Be honest, because itís pretty cool to see the charts alongside your score.
