Lady & the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Everyone’s favorite dogs Lady and the Tramp have several younglings. Their young pup, Scamp, wants anything but to be a house dog. Scamp runs away to be a junk yard dog and live the wild life. Can Tramp find and convince his son to become normal before it’s too late?
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
What’s love got to do with it? When I was oh so young, I thrilled each time I watched a Disney movie. ROBIN HOOD was always my favorite but I remember also watching LADY AND THE TRAMP and generally liking it, despite the heavy romantic theme. Shoot forward to 2006, with a new DVD for the 2001 video sequel. What a god-awful idea. Somehow Disney managed to port this dog doo sequel out onto shelves yet again. I’m all for the classic, but part II is anything but good. The songs, which were a big part of the original, are just bad and awfully written. Add to this, the same story over again with a slight twist and the movie has hoax written all over it. Not to mention, the moral of the story is that love is submissive and will chain you to normalcy forever isn’t my cup of tea either.
The fact that it’s a movie about a very young dog getting p**** w***** at that age disturbs me. The whole affair is just so thrown together and done half heartedly that it pains me to see what was once an essential studio fall so low. Disney, you really need to stop the madness and stop thinking about children’s wallets and START thinking about quality films again you bastards! I wouldn’t want my child watching this crap but rather the good stuff like ROBIN HOOD or 101 DALMATIONS – good animated films. I just don’t understand it, if you’re going to put out work such as an animated film, then put out something that you can be proud of and that will hold up. My recommendation is don’t waste your time, and don’t contribute any more dollars on product like this.
Games & Activities > There are three very simplistic “junkyard” games as well as a Hide-And-Seek game. Wasn’t too interested.
Disney Song Selection > I REALLY didn’t want to listen to the terrible soundtrack again.
“The Making of Lady and the Tramp II: From Tramp to Scamp” >> 16 min > A simple, quick look at the process with some interviews from various artists and people involved.
Finally, there were three Vintage Pluto cartoons which were infinitely better than the film.
I knew LADY AND THE TRAMP II: SCAMP’S ADVENTURE was a bad idea when I heard the title and so should have Disney. But we all know what they were after, so there’s not much left to say other than don’t buy it or rent it – even if you have kids. Kids don’t need to be exposed to more crap than they already are. Quality people.
Props 2 > Good old Walt and the makers of the original LADY AND THE TRAMP.
