WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Stand-Up comedian Larry The Cable Guy makes his feature film debut as.Larry The Cable Guy. But wait! Hes actually a health inspector in this one, get it? The greasy, unkempt, and brass Larry is playing a health inspectoryeah.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
As you can tell from my rather sarcastic Whats It About section, Larry and his film didnt exactly wow me over. Having never seen any of the so called Blue Collar Comedy tours that Larry and his cohorts have done, I went into this film with no preconceived notions and an open mind. With the first few minutes of the film containing such high brow sight gags as showing the crack of Larrys ass, stepping on old pizza, using a q-tip and then placing it with a blackened head back in the container, and peeing in the shower, maybe sometimes a mind works better closed. Not that Im against movies that strive to be gross (see DUMB AND DUMBER, UHF, PINK FLAMINGOS, EATING RAOUL, ect. ), but when the film claims to be a comedy, is it too much to ask that it be funny? Larry and his movie are a sense of humor that went way past me, an unfunny mix of bad jokes and gags that go nowhere, mixed with every film clich in the book fish out of water partner, angry boss who doesnt like his methods, ect, ect.

And I cant really comment on performances, becausewellthere are none worth mentioning. Larry is obviously doing Larry and if you dont like Larry (as I didnt!), well, him screaming Git-R-Done is probably not going to get you all hot and bothered. What is a real shame though is how the film and its un-charismatic star manage to take down even good actors. Tom Wilson, so funny as Biff in the BACK TO THE FUTURE series and so moving on the TV show Freaks And Geeks, gets buried under a script that has nothing to offer him. Joey Pants Pantoliano, with so many great comedies under his belt and of course BOUND, needs to be in this like Laurence Olivier needed to do a Stephen Baldwin film. (And what was with the eybrows, bro?) In fact, the only laugh to intentionally come from me during the film was a short scene with comedian Lisa Lampanelli, who plays a fat and sassy mom. (And with only a few lines, what a waste!) Im not going to keep this review going folks, you get the point. LARRY THE CABLE GUY (why is he the cable guy???): HEALTH INSPECTOR is as bad as they come; a factor the film seems to take pride in. If you do feel like renting this shameful piece of garbage, think about hanging yourself instead - the end result is the same, but the suffering ends much quicker.
THE EXTRAS
Some may consider the fact that this disc only has one measly eight minute featurette a bad thing, not me I consider it a blessing.

Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector Behind The Badge (8:18): A really terrific featurette if you like lots of Larry ass kissing and even more clips from the film itself. (Oh, cant get enough of that!) Best Moment When actress Joanna Cassidy states that the script for this film was one of the funniest Ive read in a long time. Time to switch agents, Joanna!

Plus there is also Previews for RENO 911 SEASON 3 and BLUE COLLAR COMEDY TOUR ONE FOR THE ROAD.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
If you just skipped to this part without reading the review, let me tell it to you straight. I would never recommend this film to anyone not if you tied my tongue to your tailpipe and drove me eighty miles an hour naked across a field of broken glass. Get it? (Line quoted from the film THE HARD WAY, as I couldnt find a funny one from this dud!)
