WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Satan (Harvey Keitel) finds himself coming to the end of a 10,000 year term in Hell and forced to come to a decision on who he wants to name as his successor. Realizing heís got three sons who arenít exactly prime candidates, he awards himself another term. Pissed off at his choice, two of his bad sons head off to Earth to wreak havoc and spread their evil. Faced with the possibilities of eternal damnation, itís up to Satanís goofy retarded son (Adam Sandler) to save the planet from Hell.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
If you donít like Adam Sandler, do yourself a favor and avoid this one altogether. If however, you like wild special effects, nasty sight gags and a good olí heaping of brainless humor, this one will come through with flying colours. If I had to classify the movie though, it would probably rank amongst one of the most visually bizarre flicks Iíve ever seen and it certainly ainít your typical comedy. Given how farfetched the whole premise is, you have to just suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride. Sure, Sandlerís dumb ass facial expressions and weird speech impediment take some getting used to, but he does have some pretty funny moments in the movie. If thereís one thing which did help the movie, itís the insane amount of cameos which only added to the zaniness and stupidity. From former SNL alumni to Dan Marino to Quentin Tarantino, everyone gets involved and stirs things up.

While this is kind of off-topic, I think for people to truly appreciate Adam Sandlerís cinema (I canít believe I just said that), moviegoers need alcohol or weed to truly enhance the viewing experience. I remember sitting through many parts of this movie thinking: "Damn, that would be so much funnier if I wasnít in a clear state of mind." Even without the presence of mood altering substances, the movie does have some pretty damn funny scenes but donít go in expecting laugh out loud hilarity. With that being said, any movie that features John Lovitz getting sodomized by a huge bird canít be all that bad, right? Sandler fans should be satisfied with this flick and itís worth checking out but be forewarned...this one ain't for everybody.
THE EXTRAS
This is a Platinum Series disc so you know youíre in for a crapload of cool extras and this one will not disappoint, believe me. First up is "Adam Sandler Goes to Hell" which is a very solid 32-minute behind the scene documentary which goes into extensive detail on the story, the sets and FX while providing great interviews with cast and crew. Itís surprisingly informative and sheds plenty of light on how much work actually went into making the Hell scenes. Checking out Kevin Nealon getting prosthetic breasts attached to his head was kind of creepy though. Still, fans of the flick will definitely want to give this one a look. Next is "Satanís Top 40", a 17-minute look at the devilís longstanding relationship with heavy metal music. While not exactly related to the flick, itís a fun look at some crazy rock legends like Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne.

The DVD also manages to squeeze in, wait for it, 21 (!) deleted or extended scenes which was a real treat. While some of the scenes are extremely short, they all feature top notch video and audio and seem taken from the actual movie. Iíd recommend going through them all because a handful of them are really funny. The video to Christian rock outfit P.O.D.ís "School of Hard Knocks" is also included and with cool FX and a hard sound, is a kick ass little track. The movieís trailer also finishes up the extras. The DVD does feature some excellent menus complete with burning Hell animation, sound effects and characters from the movie. Without ruining some of the surprises, click on some of the signs on the main menu like Pain and Agony and youíll be treated to some quirky animation snippets.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
This DVD is kind of hard to sum up because while it offers an insane amount of extra material , Little Nicky isnít exactly for every movie watching fan. If youíre looking for something a little different and unconventional, give this one a look but donít take it too seriously. To the Sandler fans, buy this DVD because with its two commentary tracks, unbelievable video quality and cool documentaries, itís worth every penny and is yet another stellar release from the folks over at New Line.

Bonus Prescription:

From the main menu, select the ďSpecial FeaturesĒ option which will bring you to a new menu. From there, select ďCentral ParkĒ and wait until you get to the new screen with Adam Sandler sitting on the park bench. Once there, keep pressing the ďleftĒ button on your remote until a halo appears over Sandlerís head. Push the ďenterĒ button and be prepared to get treated to a full 90-second trailer of Lord of the Rings, complete with insane never-before-seen footage from the movie!
