As famed motorcycle builder Jesse James prepares to go for a carefree Mexican trek with his rocker buddy Kid Rock, We’re given an insight into his rise to fame, his marriage to porn star Janine Lindemulder and his life in general.
easy for someone who considers himself an artist to reach fame and fortune while
sticking to his creative ideals but as demonstrated by the tens of thousands who
proudly don West Coast Choppers’ accoutrement, Jesse James has managed to
accomplish all of that while transcending the once obscure choppers world and
acting as the main catalyst to its almost poker-like explosion. There’s very
little argument one could give to contradict James’ stature as the chopper king.
His creativity is unmatched and his fabrication talents leave most other
builders in the lurch and through it all, he’s managed to stay true to himself.
The only unfortunate part, as evidenced in MOTORCYCLE MANIA 3, is that what he
seems to be is actually a whining, complaining crybaby.
hoping to see much more of the bike fabrication process and to catch a glimpse
into what make James such a creative force. Instead, I got a soap opera about a
guy who complains that his upbringing was rough, who complains about how he
hates everyone and who whines about the rapid disintegration of his marriage.
Straight up dude, when you marry a chick who sucks on assholes for a living,
there won’t be much sympathy coming from my side. I held out for things to get
in gear once he hit the road with Kid Rock. They didn’t. Next to James, Kid Rock
actually doesn’t seem that abrasive but the end result was a pair of really rich
dudes riding around in Mexico and signing autographs while spewing out wise
lines such as “the motor’s RPMs were in line with the beat of my heart.” The
bikes were cool at least but I could have made that assessment based on ninety
seconds of footage. I didn’t need ninety minutes. This was definitely not worth
Not even some exhaust fumes on this disc...
Jesse's not my type of dude but he does build the coolest bikes around and I'd give my right arm for one of them. That being said, this feature has very little to do with bikes. Add to that the fact that it plays on The Discovery Channel every other day and there's no real motivation left to grab this. If you're interested in finding out what's behind the most brilliant chopper-building mind out there, this is unfortunately not the place but if you get your kicks by hearing someone and his porn chick discuss their marriage, then this is the place to be!
