WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
A brilliant political strategist comes out of retirement to help a presidential candidate when she learns she’ll be facing off against her arch rival.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Remember that old saying, the two things you never bring up at the dinner table are religion and politics? Well, trust me when I tell you, taking either of those and making them into movies isn’t any better. The biggest problem with political movies is that politics is mind numbingly boring. Yes, we sometimes get films like THE DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN (not Eddie’s best, but I enjoyed it), or a phenomenal show like HOUSE OF CARDS, both of which gave us something fresh and entertaining. Sadly, though not surprisingly, OUR BRAND IS CRISIS is by no means fresh or entertaining.

I like Sandra Bullock, she’s come a long way since SPEED’s damsel in distress (she still looks pretty damn good too), and it’s her resonating acting chops that give this flick any relevance whatsoever. Yet, even that isn’t enough to make anyone care. She’s a vigorous campaign manager to be sure, and hells yes, I’d want her representing me if I ran for anything, but at the end of the day people just don’t give a damn about politicians, and this story isn’t going to give them a reason to change their minds.

OUR BRAND IS CRISIS is a textbook political drama, with a some funny stuff at the beginning to keep us from turning it off, followed by a predictable as hell second and third act that will make you groan. If you don’t know how this will pan out after the first ten minutes, then shame on you. If you’re looking for a political fix, HOUSE OF CARDS returns very soon, and if you want some political fun, tune into Stephen Colbert and watch his Trump debate, that’ll have you in stitches I promise…unless you’re American, but hey, you can’t blame us for poking a little fun.
THE EXTRAS
Sandra Bullock: A Role Like No Other: Bullock’s role was originally written for a man, but she had secret service take care of dudes running against her for the role. No, that last part isn’t true…or is it?

Previews: There are some trailers that play before the features as well as an ULTRAVIOLET DIGITAL Copy of the film.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Political dramas are a mixed bag, but in my humble opinion, they need powerful narrative and at least a couple tricks up their sleeve to make sitting down with them worthwhile. I’ve saved you the trouble of guessing with this one.
