WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
MoNique is fat. Thats about all the plot youre going to get.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Sometimes I wish I could just write No, it sucked! and be done with this section of the review. But in the name of impartiality, no matter how carcinogenic a movie may be, I promise to provide detailed justification as to why said film made me consider hara kiri twenty minutes in.

For starters this is the most repetitive movie Ive ever seen. Every moment, every line, every supposed joke in PHAT GIRLZ is about the main character being overweight. MoNique is not skinnywe get it. Its been an hour and a half; would you like to talk about something elsepreferably something entertaining? As expected, the filmmakers still try to pack in an obvious moral lesson with one of the most unbelievable love stories since Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley frenched on live TV. MoNique finds a rich, muscular doctor who falls in love with her because hes from Nigeria and apparently over there they too have the stereotype that black men like thick women. And through his selfless love, MoNique literally changes the world for all plus-sized women. I have an ideaif you want to be accepted for who you are, the best way is to not go around yelling at everybody about your weight.

More importantly though, for a comedy PHAT GIRLZ is devoid of any laughs. (Theres a restaurant called Fatassburger! OMG ROTFL!!1! ) I think the majority of the humor was supposed to be derived from Ms. Nique being loud and assertive to her enemies (i.e. everyone), but I found it more terrifying than funny.

Theres a reason this is #7 on the IMDB Bottom 100. And that reason is intense sucking.
THE EXTRAS
Why such an awful movie has so many special features, I have no idea.

Commentary by director Nnegest Likk: If there was a film that didnt need a commentary, it was PHAT GIRLZ. Example comment: When you love yourself, nothing can stop you. Here, Dick tries to hate on her and stop her and shes all likeNo, not this time! Its obvious Likk is ecstatic just to get the chance to make a movie, and I hate to tear apart a first time filmmakers debut, but I have to call it like I see it.

Deleted Scenes: This extra should be about two hours long and comprise the entire movie. What it actually is is ten scenes, most featuring MoNique riffing.

The Phattest Guy: A Tribute To Producer Bobby Newmeyer: A nice homage to a man who obviously felt passion for his projects. (Newmeyer mortgaged his house to make PHAT GIRLZ.)

Bloopers: Nothing worthwhile here, unless you want to catch a glimpse of MoNiques panties. (Sadly, I bet this just convinced some people to watch PHAT GIRLZ.)

Super Size Dreams: Likks Video Diaries: From her personal footage, you can tell Likk tries hard and means well with her first feature film; it just didnt turn out that way.

The Reel Deal: The Making of PHAT GIRLS: Some interviews to reinforce the films message, in case you couldnt guess it from the cover.

Also, a Theatrical Trailer.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Apparently in this film PHAT stands for Pretty Horrific And Terrifying. If awful Yo Mama jokes are your style of comedy, then this is your movie.
