WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
After a highly unprofessional public display, an uppity and egotistical basketball coach is forced to redeem himself by coaching at a junior high school.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
"Thank God." Those were the only words I uttered regarding REBOUND, and they were spoken as soon as the film's credits hit. Martin Lawrence needs to give up acting, and fast. He might've been funny once before, but as REBOUND plainly proves, the man's got nothing left. He's not the only problem, though. The script sucks equally as bad, if not more so. It consists of nothing more than the tired, consistently rehashed story about "a bunch of misfit kids on a sports team." However, I've gotta say, this is by far the worst of the bunch, dropping down about forty notches below the mediocre BAD NEWS BEARS remake and then another twenty below the mildly amusing KICKING AND SCREAMING.

Every single character in this piece of crap is as one dimensional as can be, and all but the kids are unlikable. And yet still, even while most of the child actors in the film have plenty of talent, the characters they play are unbelievably lame. From the "badass" girl called Big Mac, to the dorky-looking kid who throws up all the time, not one of these players carries nearly enough depth to sustain even ten minutes in a movie.

As if there weren't enough problems, director Steve Carr decided to kick things down a notch - BAAM! The infamous director of such films as DADDY DAY CARE and DR. DOOLITTLE 2 brings a whole new plate of feces to the table, and he does so with amazing gusto. In fact, REBOUND comes complete with a whole slew of lousy angles, choppy editing, bland filmmaking, and an overall feeling of "halfassedness" (yeah, it's a word, wanna fight about it?). All in all, REBOUND fails in every way possible, and delivers one of the most painful movies in recent memory. And considering I just saw THE PERFECT MAN not too long ago, that's really saying something.
THE EXTRAS
There is not a single worthy extra here.

Commentary (with Jon Lucas and Scott Moore): A very lame audio commentary featuring first-time screenwriters Lucas and Moore rambling on about how amazing the cast and crew were. If you like listening to people praise others, this is the track for you.

Alternate Ending (0:42): Pointless and hardly different at all.

Storyboards: A series of storyboard images that you can click through. It makes me sad that such an awful movie actually needed storyboards (especially ones as well drawn as these).

More pointless crap includes a Theatrical Trailer, an "Inside Look" of BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2, and a bunch of other Previews for movies that look equally as bad as this one.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
REBOUND sucks, plain and simple. The dialogue is awful, the direction is lousy, the script is abysmal, and Martin Lawrence just isn't funny in it. The only "plus" the movie has is a decent assortment of child actors, but even they are given almost nothing to work with. Go rent something funny instead.
