WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
From the man who brought us a whole bunch of mediocre comedies comes yet another. Picture this, a rich, upper class family decide to cancel their vacation in Hawaii for a good 'ol fashioned romp around the Colorado rockies in a ginormous RV. Add Robin Williams and stupid hijinks, stir, and see what happens. I think a family comedy WAS supposed to ensue.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I did not enjoy this film. WHY - because it wasn't all that enjoyable and most importantly, I couldn't figure out what family would enjoy watching it. Perhaps the country folk that it tried to make fun of? I could sort of make out what might be a funny concept, but the execution of said concept was below par. Not even Robin Williams could save it. Yes, Williams has a few gut busting moments, but with so many other quality films, why even bother with this entry? I didn't like the family, nor the stereotypical portrayals and there wasn't a whole lot of "fun" to sink your teeth into. I want to see hijinks involving white water rapids, bears, avalanches, mountain climbing, etc.; not MEET THE FOCKERS 2.

RV was about as enjoyable as the god awful MEN IN BLACK II. Most of the cast just seemed bored and pretty much slumped through their roles, which is exactly how I felt. Oh, and word to the wise, if you are making a family comedy, no family wants to see a family in a film that nobody likes. Winy kids don't want to watch other winy kids. That's just wrong. If you want a good time involving family, Chevy Chase never hurt anyone. As far as I'm concerned, I'll never see another Barry Sonnenfeld film again (unless I'm forced to).
THE EXTRAS
Feature Commentary >> Here, Sonnenfeld only reinforces my distate for him. Quite the dull commentary.

Featurettes >> There are several small EPKs that are really hollow and stupid.

JoJo: The Pop Princess >> A pretty stupid shoutout to JoJo from the cast, though I don't see anyone listening nor fans!

RV Nation: The Culture of Road Warriors >> An OK featurette showing Jeff Daniels driving RVs and stuff.

Robin Williams: A Family Affair >> Another pretty stupid shoutout to Robin Williams from the cast.

The Scoop on Poop >> Some stupid footage of the poop gag in the film.

Gag Reel >> Not funny.

Alternate Scene >> Still not funny.

RV Reveries >> What?

Storyboard-to-Film Comparisons >> For this film? give me a break!
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
If you glanced the special features, you saw "stupid" and "not funny" a lot. This DVD is a throwaway when it comes to audio quality and special features. It doesn't help that I abhored the film as well. RV is another Barry Sonnenfeld exercise in how NOT to make a family friendly comedy. Don't let Robin William's name decieve you, there's hardly any "classic" or "dramatic" Williams here. He probably relapsed back to the bottle becuase of this piece of shite.

Bottom Line: RV STINKS

Little Known Fact: Jeff Daniels can sing country music.
