WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Two morons try to prevent their best friend Silverman (Biggs) from marrying evil Judith (Peet). They kidnap her and hijinks (not necessarily funny ones) ensue. Wayne (Zahn) and JD (Black) turn out to be inept at kidnapping and their plan to reunite Silverman with his long-lost high school love goes awry.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
This is not a good movie. As a matter of fact, itís a horrible movie. Biggs plays his usual "sweet naÔve guy" at its most annoying and yet manages to be outperformed by his two buddies. Humour oozes out of Zahn and Black like water from a desert rock and they manage to turn a dumb movie into idiotic fare for indiscriminant viewers. Laughs are few and far betweenÖ veeery far between. The script can at best be considered fluff and at worst, be considered absolute garbage.
This film even manages to make the beautiful Amanda Peet not worth watching. Itís unfortunate because I really like her and Iím baffled by her recent work selections. Her agent should be sent to a Turkish work camp and she should be sent here, to my home. Watching these pathetic, one dimensional characters bumble their way through this drivel is actually painful, with the one saving grace being Peetís skimpy outfits and a short running time. This type of film is obviously whatís turning Hollywood into a summer pad for mindless teenagers of the 21st century.
Well, aside from the commentary, thereís a set of "Outtakes" which actually manage to make you hate this film more than after the initial viewing. Itís really just a bunch of screwed up lines. No real meat. Also included are "Trailers" for other movies, which makes you angry for not renting one of them instead. At this point, itís determined that theyíre just rubbing salt in your wounds. All this is followed by a list of the actors' filmographies, which is actually quite cool since it helps you avoid ever seeing Jack Black again.
This is a stinker. Do not buy, do not rent, do not pass go, do not collect $200. If you choose to rent it, may I suggest muting it and forwarding to all the Amanda Peet parts? The only advantage of renting this movie is the true satisfaction youíll get when you return it. Sorry guys, this baby sucks.
