James B. Rogers
The main problem, among hundreds, lies within the casting department. I mean ... Jurgen Prochnow as Arnold Schwarzenegger? Don't make me laugh. But that's precisely what Jurgen does here: makes us laugh. A lot. His performance feels like a cocktail party-impersonation that simply refuses to end. And that hilarity just keeps coming...
Mariel Hemingway as Maria Shriver? Nora Dunn as Arianna Huffington? Oh, my sides. And then there's some gal named Kristen Shaw who gives the single most inept Barbara Walters impersonation I've ever seen. Basically, were it not for the oh-so-familiar "mood music" found in only the sappiest and most toothless TV-biopics, you'd swear that See Arnold Run was meant as comedy. But it wasn't.
Directed by American Pie 2 helmer James Rogers and poorly written by professional TV hack Matt Dorff (he of the Brady, Osmond, and Charlie's Angels biopics), See Arnold Run is a slow child's crayon-scrawled love letter to a guy who has simply earned way too much in the "undeserved praise" department.
