WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
When an engaged man (Baker) receives a mysterious e-mail containing a list of all the women he's slept with/ever will sleep with, he calls off the wedding and sets out to complete his life's work.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Roderick Blank is the kind of guy you pass on the street and mentally label, without second thought, a douchebag. A suave and arrogant pretty boy (who, worse, knows it), Blank is giving up his much-treasured bachelor lifestyle for one of barbecues and dinner parties.

But thats not what he wants. Nobody who combs their hair like that wants a ring on his finger. And he finally calls off the wedding when a magical e-mail creeps its way into his secretarys inbox: a list of 101 women29 Roderick has slept with and the additional 72 hed be giving up for marriage.

Heres where the male viewer would anticipate a montage of those 72 (the embarrassment of bitches as Roderick so poetically puts it). Well, sorry, boys, but only a select few of these bimbos make it to the bed (onscreen, anyway), so expect to settle peeking down your girlfriends top in between the sporadic American Pie knock-off gags (sex with grandmothers, fighting lesbian fairies, rape by a busload of Idahoan bible-humpers) while she waits patiently for the stale love angle and the grand finale, which plays out like a last-minute apology for portraying most of the women as easy and sleazy.

Sex and Death 101 (or, How To Be An Asshole Without Really Trying) is writer/director Daniel Waters (Heathers, Happy Campers) sophomoric effort, a sexcapade/rom-com/morality tale/thriller that hits only a few of the right notes. For starters, Waters screenplay has an original idea (no matter how sleazy or corny it turns) and Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada), bullshit smile and all, makes for a perfect Roderick.

The supporting cast hits and misses, with Leslie Bibb as cute veterinarian Dr. Miranda Storm and Mindy Cohn (yes, Natalie from The Facts of Life) as secretary Trixie both pleasant surprises, but Winona Ryder (as #101/mysterious femme fatale Death Nell) is given little to do despite top female billing.

Im sure Waters had good intentions with Sex and Death 101, but his ugly (yet occasionally humorous) movie crashes while trying to be too much at the same time.
THE EXTRAS
Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Daniel Waters: Woah, slow down! Waters snaps through tidbits and production stories, making for a solid commentaryif you can keep up. Oh, and hes also quite full of himself.

101 Perversions (17:12): Here we have a behind-the-scenes look at Sex and Death 101, complete with footage and interviews with the cast and crew. Gives more insight than the movie itself did, but it still seems misguided.

Trailers and Previews are also included.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Sex and Death 101 will likely disappoint its viewers, male and female. The men will get bored after the first half hour (that's where the sex scenes are) and the women won't be enticed until the last act, when they're duped into thinking they just saw a "sweet" film.
