WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
A young woman eats an entire batch of cupcakes that unbeknownst to her, are filled with marijuana. High as a kite, she sets off to fulfill her normal daily routine stumbling upon one misadventure after another.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Before this film, I always looked at Anna Faris as a very beautiful, sweet actress. A ďhottieĒ if you will. After this film, Iíve found that my sexual attraction to Ms. Faris has decreased drastically, but my respect and liking of her has actually gone up. I think Anna would be a great girl to hang out and get a beer with. Plus, after doing a movie like this, you have to respect the girl for not taking herself too seriously.

Unfortunately, the film itself is not very good. It makes a lot of common mistakes found in comedies that donít have much of a script. For example, there are a lot of instances where the jokeís over, but they keep the camera rolling even though nothing is going on. In the same vein, they have a lot of jokes that last too long. The concept of the film is simple enough, so itís hard to blame them too much. Thereís only so much you can do with a stoned girl trying to make it through the day.

I will say however, that one scene had me rolling on the floor laughing hysterically. Thereís a moment where she gives this big monologue about Marxism and then they show the whole scene again, this time with what she actually said and not what she wanted to say. It may not sound like much, but trust me, it was great. SMILEY FACE had some other moments like that where a simple idea was funny because Anna Faris was high. I also liked the brief appearance of Jayma Mays, who gave her best Anna Faris impersonation in EPIC MOVIE.

And since the camera is focused on Anna Faris for nearly the entire 86 minute runtime, itís only fair to judge whether or not she was a convincing stoner. In my opinion, she was more than convincing and I never questioned whether or not she was high. However, keep in mind that Iíve been a big fan of Annaís for a while now. She makes the film bearable and even manages to make it funny at times.
THE EXTRAS
Behind the Scenes With Smiley Face (10:03): This is a basic, quick featurette with pedestrian questions and answers. Itís about a third movie clips, but it was nice to see all the actors out of character. Itís average, but better than nothing.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS
I could see this film turning into a cult classic at some point in the future. It has enough funny moments to make it a recommend for fans of stoner movies, but lacks the production value to make it a safe bet for everyone else.
