WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
The Boz (aka Alabama cop Joe Huff) is reeled in by the FBI to go undercover within a "kill first ask questions later" biker gang that has something big cooking in their oven. Will the Mullet save the day! You bet your ass it will!
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
AT LAST! One the most underrated action films of all time STONE COLD just got its DVD release and you couldnít have a happier action junkie than myself. Stone Cold is an odd flick in the sense that itís two types of movies rolled into one. On one end; it is easily one of the more accurate and credible biker movies on the block (and trust me Iíve seen many). The depiction of the hoodlums, how they function, their code and attitude towards life was right on the money. I dare ya to find a biker flick that does a better job at it than this one.

But at the same time Stone Cold was a testosterone heavy, muscle head film; one that copy/pasted the M.O. of 80ís action films onto its 90ís template with glee. Big hulk of a lead with limited acting chops but mucho bicep size? Check! Mammoth body count? You bet! Excessive violence (wait till you see how Lance Henriksen deals with a JuryÖ.wow...)? You got it!! Groovy one liners? Oh yeah! (With my fav being: At times like this I'm reminded of my father's last words, Don't son, that gun is loaded!). And finally side splitting gay undertones? GALORE! The Boz prancing around in tight Speedos, Lance scoping him out like a horn-dog on the prowl or even The Boz' ďjust got out of a gay SNM clubĒ attire made sure to have that jive come across hardcore. I was laughing my head off! There is nothing funnier to me than witnessing scenes that are supposed to be hetero but are so damn macho that they come across as gay. Priceless!

On top of that; Director Craig R. Baxley (of I Come in Peace) sure knows how to shoot a wild chase scene for maximum whoopass or stage visceral hand to hand get downs. We donít see great stuff like this anymore in action films, that's for sure!. And the uppercuts that sent me to the mat were the unintentional laughs (what was up with that pet lizard - how come that FBI guy had to be explained what a strip club was...and MORE!), brilliant villainous turns by Lance Henriksen and William Forsythe and so much gnarly tough guy posturing that youíll drown in it. Granted the plot was nothing unique, lapses in logic ran rampant and that FBI comic relief character was lamer than this review but that didnít come close in tarnishing The Bozís "unique" (I'm being polite here) leather trench coat or this slick and quick clipped ride. Stone Cold owns!
THE EXTRAS
None. What a travesty! A "Making of The Boz's Mullet" would've been greatly appreciated.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
If you enjoy old school action films with all of the exploitation ingredients at play; than do yourself a favor and gun down Stone Cold; itís one of the best of its kind! The last of the 80's action films but shot in the 90's. This sucka was genius at getting its broad and eating her too! It gave me a compelling look into the biker world while at the same time delivering the goods (violence, action, intentional-unintentional giggles) like nobodyís bachelor-party trinket. Stone Cold is great when its good, its good when its bad and it amazing overall. A must see and own for action fiends of the world!
