WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
It's a spoof in the vein of Scary Movie, Date Movie, and Epic Movie...enjoy!
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
You’ve seen Scary Movie, Epic Movie, and Date Movie--you know what to expect: incessant, random parodies of blockbuster genre movies, half of which just aren’t relevant anymore--Is there really room for a spoof of Tim Burton’s Batman when the Christopher Nolan flicks are the rave?

Superhero Movie takes its general plot (and lame parodies) from 2002’s Spider-Man, with a few nods to X-Men, Fantastic Four, and others thrown in. The story follows an orphaned nerd, Rick Riker (Drake Bell, from Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh), who is bitten by a dragonfly and for some reason or another will square off with his classmate’s uncle, Lou Landers (Christopher McDonald), all while suppressing his love for his pretty neighbor, Jill Johnson (Sara Paxton).

There are enough gags here, as with the other Movie Movies, to knock any juvenile viewer out of their chair. So if topical (Barry Bonds’ steroid scandal, Tom Cruise’s eccentricities, and…Enron?) and technology (from YouTube to Stephen Hawking) humor aren’t your bag, writer/director Craig Mazin (who penned Scary Movie 3 and 4) has your back with 75-seconds of animal-humping, 45 of urine, and another 75 of Marion Ross farting her afghan off—has it come to this, Mrs. Cunningham?

Other familiar faces that pop up (with no surprise) include veteran, beat-leading Leslie Nielsen (as Uncle Albert) and producer David Zucker, the two men responsible for both my love (Airplane!, The Naked Gun) and hate (everything since) for the spoof genre.
THE EXTRAS
Feature Commentary by Writer/Director Craig Mazin and Producers David Zucker and Robert K. Weiss: Oh, look how funny they think they are! The trio sits around, laughs at their own jokes (both onscreen and off), and offers about as little insight as possible. Horrible commentary.

Alternate Ending (5:12): Not extremely different from the theatrical ending, but wannabe-sidekickTrey (Kevin Hart) gets his due and Stephen Hawking drops the f-bomb.

Deleted Scenes (10:41): There are 21 here, which can be viewed separately or as a bunch. They’re each unwatchable in their own special way.

Meet the Cast (11:11) devotes its time to Drake Bell, Leslie Nielsen, Marion Ross, Christopher McDonald, Sara Paxton, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, and Pamela Anderson.

The Art of Spoofing (10:36): Here we have a look (through interviews and clips) at the spoof subgenre, with special attention paid to producer David Zucker (the man behind quintessential spoofs Airplane! and The Naked Gun). Nothing special here.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
I laughed twice--more than I expected to. Fans of the Movie Movies will get more bang for their buck here than someone like myself (read: the former spoof fan) and will appreciate the features much more.
