The differences are numerous, but the glowing difference is the change in focus. SUPERMAN IV is nothing more than a 90-minute propaganda video against nuclear weapons. It doesnít even bother focusing on the traditional storylines of the comics, or further developing the characters, it just barrels in with political statements and over the top acting.
I would imagine little kids will get a kick out of seeing Superman in action, but older kids an adults will be bored with the cartoonish storyline and bad special effects. I think at this point Warner Brothers was willing to slap the Superman name on anything and with the involvement of Christopher Reeve as an actor and a story developer, why would they argue? The real question is why would they cut costs and make it as hard as possible to make a quality Superman film?
Additional Scenes (31:01): Even thought the movie is bad, and the video quality on these cut scenes is poor, itís still cool to see deleted scenes from an old film. Kudos to Warner Brothers for finding them and putting them on the DVD. However, the scenes are bad and really add to the cheese factor.
