WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
In this supposed sequel to 2000's The Cell, a mind-reading investigator (Santiago) seeks revenge on the mysterious serial killer who killed her six times.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Its been probably eight years since Ive seen Tarsem Singhs The Cell, and so I dont know how this straight-to-video sequel ties in exactly--nor am I about to go back and find out any more than what youll read below. The sooner this review gets submitted, the sooner the Blu-ray is off of my desk and onto eBay (starting bid: $0.99).

The serial killer this time around is known as The Cusp. His trademark: he kills, resurrects, kills, and resurrects his victims until theyre begging for their death. Only one has survived and, by sheer coincidence, shes the star of the show.

Shes Maya (Tessie Santiago), a psychic investigator who has been killed six times (!) by The Cusp. And with the help of Detective Harris (Chris Bruno), whose niece Penelope (Amee Walden) is being held captive by The Cusp, she will seek her revenge.

The Cell 2s only connection to 2000s original, it seems, is the actual footage of Singhs psychological thriller, which opens the film. Oh, and the female lead is of Latin American descent.

Tim Iacofano, who has directed a few episodes of 24 since 2005, seems more influenced by the manic camerawork/editing of the Saw franchise than the visual feast of his true predecessor, which gives his feature debut that look and feel which haunts most bargain bin-level STV fare passing as horror this decade.

But no, I stand corrected. The Cell 2 is something special. After all, it played at Japans Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival
THE EXTRAS
The Cell 2: Behind the Scenes (30:02) is awfully extensive for a movie so, well, awful. Interviews and BTS footage are included.

Also included is some BD-Live material and the Digital Copy, for those who like to carry their quarter-assed STV sequels with them on that long subway ride.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
There is a reason movies like The Cell 2 go straight to video...
