WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Doug's about to tie the knot, so his two best friends and brother in law decide to take him to Vegas for a wild night on the town. Problems arise when they wake up in the morning, and not only can’t remember a thing, but also seem to have lost Doug.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I'm a big fan of noir comedies, and with a premise like "four guys in Vegas for a bachelor party gone wrong", I was anything but unhappy. Truth be told, after seeing the first couple trailers I wasn't sold, then I caught the R rated trailer and said to myself, "This is gonna kick some serious ass!” I wasn’t wrong, as it ended up being one of my favorite movies of the year. I loved this summer's earlier comedic gem I LOVE YOU MAN, but I have to say THE HANGOVER went above and beyond for me, scoring enough points to outshine all the rest.

I've also grown pretty fond of Bradley Cooper, and am very impressed at his rise to fame over the past couple years. We're talking about the guy with a bit role in WEDDING CRASHERS as the douche boyfriend, then a couple more small roles here and there, before showing up as the lead in MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN. He nailed the shit out of that one, and since has been popping up all over the place. The entire cast was great, but I also have to give some mad props to Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms (even though I don’t watch THE OFFICE) and Iron Mike Tyson for putting up some big numbers in the humor department.

The bad news is, if you’re looking at the “unrated” label and are thus expecting lots of extra footage, you might be disappointed to find out there’s only an additional eight minutes tacked onto the run time. And sadly those minutes don’t really stick out. The characters are still a blast and their chemistry reminds me a bit of JUDGEMENT NIGHT (before everything started to go to hell). Sin City is gorgeous in HD and this flick has never made me want to hit Vegas more, and as a matter a fact, the boys and I planned a trip to do just that after seeing this in theaters.

THE HANGOVER is the ultimate guy’s night out (complications aside). These flicks will never get old for me, especially when they revolve around shenanigans in Vegas! Some people are comparing this to VERY BAD THINGS, but I say no way bitches, this movie was a hundred times funnier, and though dark, remains a comedy from start to finish. I laughed my ass off, and was particularly happy with the ending (still not sure where the sequel’s heading though). I won’t ruin it, but I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. This is a must see for comedy fans, and the perfect Christmas gift for last minute shoppers.
THE EXTRAS
Behind the Story: This feature is for the theatrical version only and is a pip commentary (meaning it’s a smaller screen in the corner while the movie’s playing) featuring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakas, Ed Helms and director Todd Phillips. Another stellar comedy commentary, if only they were all this good.

Map of Destruction: This feature lets us retrace all the steps the guys took on their ill-fated evening of mayhem. It also gives us some background on some of the real Vegas attractions and the city in general. Food for thought when it comes to mapping out my trip.

The Madness of Ken Jeong: Eight minutes of hilarious improve from stand-up comedian Ken Jeong. This guy’s always a solid addition to any comedy, loved him ROLE MODELS.

Action Mashup: A very quick half minute re-showing of the taser scene. I laughed my ass off when he kicked the phone out of that kid’s hand.

Three Best Friends Song: There were a couple character enacted poems and songs featured throughout the film, and here’s another song from Zach, Bradley and Ed. Sounds like something you’d hear in THE OFFICE.

The Dan Band: This was an easily overlooked aspect of the film, but you can’t help but laugh when you focus on them at the wedding. Here’s Dan’s version of FAME. Loved it, but the CANDY SHOP one was better.

Gag Reel: Eight more minutes of fun with the boys, I especially loved the back and forth insults between Ed and Zach. This movie would have been so hard to shoot without laughing.

More Pictures from the Missing Camera: One of my favorite parts of the film just got better with even more outlandish pics from their crazy night. The really do look loaded in these.

Previews: We get some trailers, a couple Blu-ray commercials, some BD-LIVE content for the internet and a DIGITAL COPY of the film.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
This flick was the sleeper comedy hit of the year, as it literally came out of nowhere for me, but I’m happy as hell the boys got their due and the film’s become so popular. This will definitely go down as one of the all time greats and deserves to be in your collection.

Extra Tidbit: I know this was the backbone of the movie, but would it really be that hard to get noticed on the roof in the middle of the day?
