I still liked the movie

Like this asshat has any influence on my watching/buying decisions. I'm holding off getting this right now when I know the Extended Version is coming first week of November is the only reason. The box packaging look nicely together.

No one's asking you to like any of the Middle Earth films (persoanlly, I find the "Hobbit" films to be more fun than the dreary "LOTR"), but why not back-up your complaints with actual evidence from the movie? This is sloppy, rushed, and not at all what anyone should ever expect a review to be.

Wow... This was my least favorite, but you're using this site as your soap box to complain about movies you clearly don't like. Joblo rates this movie high and then the DVD doesn't get a consistent review. Joblo is now hiring, maybe you should consider taking more applicants on and booting this guy. He clearly doesn't have a passion for writing and it's a damn shame this was published, despite my slightly negative feelings for the movie.

I'm not one to criticize people doing their job but I whole-heartedly agree with the comments about this reviewer. There is a difference between giving constructive criticism and outright bashing a film I honestly think someone a bit more professional should do a seperate review of the source material.

WOW Seriously

It must've been slow hiring when this guy got the job. Did you write this review after you got dumped? It's alright to not like a movie, but damn man this is some terrible writing. All that anger and trolling is not good for your health. The original trilogy was epic and the The Hobbit is alright and could be better. The book was boring as hell, so I'm amazed the movies are a little entertaining.

Hahahahhaaa JB FAIL!

This review, oh man. I agree conceptually that THIS movie was the worst of the bunch, but to use it to slam the original trilogy? JB site is just becoming silly drama to force complaints, confusing people respect for old JB with their slow loss of interest with the new JB '24 hours news pick a side" approach. Ywan, over to I*G*N.. Haha I bet JB censors this post like they have done to me in the past.

Epic fail Mr. Plale

Even my 7 year old nephew could do a better job in reviewing this movie.

Trolling much?

I can understand why people don't like THE HOBBIT movies, but this review can't even summon a coherent argument. It recycles canards from other critics without any original thought added to make it his own. Too many fight scenes? And your jibe "The Little One, The Pretty One or The One with the Lovely Makeup" simply didn't make sense. Giant spiders are (a) little or (b) have lovely makeup? And don't get me started on the juxtaposition of your comments: "Is there any reason an adaptation

Which opinion is it? This review is far below JoBlo's usual standard.

Such a piss poor review

Of course the author is entitled to their opinion, but this review was so lazy and non informative, id be surprised if this review took more than 10 mins to type out. This is not the quality of writing I expect to see on Joblo.com. Shitting on a film because you didnt like it and just trashing the director and his previous work etc gave me no insight as to why you did not like the movie. Just seemed like you were bitter as if when LOTR was given the green light it was between you and jackson

Mr JoBlo....I wouldnt even pay a dollar for this review.

Not digging the Hobbit movies, but why be so harsh on LotR? Those movies are far from bloated, they're wonderful! Ah, different strokes, I guess.

I wasn't fond of this film, either...

However, this is not how you "review" a movie, Mathew. This is shoddy, lazy and simply shameful. I know this will fall on deaf ears, but please DO NOT accept entries like this, JoBlo.com. This site and its followers deserve so much better than Mr. Plale seems capable of. I hope that someone with a lot more respect for film (and themselves) posts a review in the near future.

Great Review Azzz!

They may be a touch drawn out but none the less epic. They needed the third film to set "The battle of the five armies" up. Go review something like Gravity or 12 years a slave there probably more your speed.

Harsh review. I loved the film, but everyone has an opinion. Still harsh though.

What a shitty review

Put a lot if time and effort into that one uh pal? What'd it take you a whole 15 minutes? Also, it's nearly criminal not to praise that barrel scene.

I think a two star rating is at least a little low. I'm not even much of a high fantasy fan at all but I liked Desolation of Smaug a good deal better than the first Hobbit film, there were lots of fun set pieces (dwarves in a barrel! The Mirkwood Spiders assault!) and the visual effects work on Smaug himself, combined with Benedict Cumberbatch's performance, was solid gold.

I have quite enjoyed The Hobbit films so far, they are a more jaunty tone than LOTR. I will pick this one up digitally until the Extended Edition comes out at the end of the year.
