Nicholas Sparks is the author of such books as The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, The Last Song and Dear John, which have also all been made into films. Iíve never read any of the novel adaptations, but I think itís safe to say that the man knows how to write a marketable book.
I donít think Iíve ever seen Taylor Schilling in anything before, but I have to say that she was a really lovely choice for the character of Beth. As I mentioned, I havenít read the book and probably never will, so I donít know how she compares to the version thatís laid out in that, but she brought a genuinity to the character that I wasnít expecting. Sheís a fresh face that lights up the screen whenever sheís on it and her smile is nothing short of infectious.
THE LUCKY ONE has its flaws, but itís definitely one of those films that a girl will make her boyfriend watch on Valentineís Day and on date nights. Itís romantic, passionate, tender, touching and all of those things that a girl (or anyone who likes romance movies) is looking for in a good chick flick.
Watch the Sparks Fly Ė The Romantic World of THE LUCKY ONE: The cast and crew discuss the script and the book. Nicholas Sparks also joins in on the discussion to talk about what the movie is all about and where the idea came from. Sparks and others chime in on the characters and what makes the book, and consequently the film, so special.
Zac and Taylorís Amazing Chemistry: The last feature included discusses the chemistry between the two actors. Obviously to make a good romance film, the actors need to be believably in love, so this goes over where their faux passion came from.
The special features arenít really great, but they do exist and they try to give you a pretty decent glimpse behind-the-scenes. I donít know if I would personally ever watch this movie again, but it is one of the better chick flicks out there.
