WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
A young man feels responsible for his fiancťís untimely death and spends the next year trying to get over it. In an act of desperation, he proposes to his waitress at the local diner. Much to his surprise, she says yes and what follows is a whirlwind love story.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
When the trailers and previews for WEDDING DAZE came out, it made it look like Isla Fisherís character was a complete nut job. In truth, she was perfectly normal. Itís very frustrating that this film was marketed so poorly and intentionally misled audiences into thinking it was something it wasnít. As it turns out, this was actually a pretty decent love story with genuine characters and a few funny moments.

Iíve enjoyed most of Michael Ian Blackís comedy over the years, but Iím surprised that this is the kind of film he chose to make for his first film. It had crude moments, but it wasnít even close to being a crude film. Instead, it was a sweet love story between two people that feel trapped with the life theyíve created and jumped at the opportunity to change their situation. This isnít something Iíd expect from Black, but he did it pretty well.

I also really enjoyed Isla Fisher. Most people associate her as the crazy girl from WEDDING CRASHERS and thatís what they tried to market her has in this film. She wasnít like that at all, but I found it cool that she was willing to do some of the gross humor such as have snot running down her face after she cried. Good ole Jason Biggs turns in another performance as the hopeless, goofy romantic, much like he has in every film heís ever been in.

The film is not without its problems. I thought the entire storyline with Joe Pantoliano was a little unnecessary. It took it to a campy level that the film didnít need to go to. I think that was the one part where Ian Blackís skit comedy background hurt the film. Overall though, I enjoyed the film and was pleasantly surprised.
THE EXTRAS
Deleted Scenes (5:10): There are only three scenes, but the ďHeart ExplodeĒ scene was pretty funny. It was a little over the top and Iím assuming thatís why it was cut. Other than that, the other scenes didnít have much impact.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS
I think this film wonít find the audience it should since it was marketed so horribly. Anyone wanting a good, lighthearted, romantic comedy should check this one out. I think youíll be surprised at how much fun you have.
