WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Two royal princes—slacker Thadeous (McBride) and the noble Fabious (Franco)—join with an elusive warrior (Portman) on a quest to free a princess (Deschanel) from an evil wizard (Theroux).
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Simply put? Yes! When I first saw trailers for YOUR HIGHNESS a while back, the cast alone got me excited for this flick. I’m probably a minority when I say that I didn’t absolutely love Pineapple Express, so I was a little bit nervous going into YOUR HIGHNESS because I had pretty high expectations. I had missed the film in theaters (as apparently did lots of other people, given it’s low numbers at the box office), but I was determined to check it out on DVD as soon as it was available.

The film stars a fantastic cast that includes Danny McBride, James Franco, the stunning Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, the charming Zooey Deschanel, Justin Theroux and British ginger, Damien Lewis.

After I finished watching the movie, someone asked me what the film was like. I was kind of trying to figure out a way to describe the movie and it’s raunchy medieval spoof-ish comedy that really wasn’t a spoof and I was coming up with nothing. I then thought about something that Zooey Deschanel had said during her cast interview (it’s included in the Damn You Gods special feature). Deschanel is asked to describe the film and she says that it’s like “a kind of dirty Princess Bride” and that’s exactly it. YOUR HIGHNESS still maintains a story, while also taking on the task of making it funny as well. The dialogue is outrageous, the characters are outrageous, the story is outrageous and the things that happen during the course of the movie are outrageous. I mean, there’s one part that involves the princes visiting the “wise wizard” as part of their quest and the wizard proceeds to treat the princes like Catholic priests treat altar boys and it’s pretty squeamishly hilarious. Plus I don’t think you get much more crude than a Minotaur raping Thadeous’ sidekick squire Courtney, played by the very funny Rasmus Hardiker

YOUR HIGHNESS has no lack of swearing, the f-bomb is dropped a good 40+ times (I looked it up), although it might’ve been higher since I actually watched the Unrated Version of the film. And there is no lack of sexual references and flashes of nudity – There is a ton of lady parts being shown throughout the film… And by lady parts, I mean boobs.
THE EXTRAS
Alternate Scenes: I was kind of disappointed by this feature. I really thought that there would be more scenes that differentiated from the originals. The scenes that were added in as alternates were hardly worth adding to the extras.

Deleted Scenes: While this feature only included a total of six deleted scenes with some of them being pretty meh, there were a couple that made me happy that I watched them. One of the deleted scenes is a musical number between the lovely Zooey Deschanel (who also has her own band, She & Him) and a completely unautotuned James Franco. Plus there’s one additional scene that is taken out from near the end of the movie that I thought was hilarious, but the rest of them were short and didn’t take away much from the movie.

Gag Reel: Gag reels are almost always great, especially when you have a cast that really seemed to enjoy working with one another for the most part. The gag reel includes a lot of retakes of Natalie Portman trying to get out a line about “it’s been burning in my beaver” and James Franco wants Danny McBride to be gay with him and their father from YOUR HIGHNESS. The cast clearly had a lot of fun with the ridiculously (yet awesome) dialogue and that really made the gag reel a lot of fun to watch.

Damn You Gods: The Making Of Your Highness: This is pretty self-explanatory. It’s just a feature on the making of the movie. There are a lot of outtakes and it was pretty fun to see some of the cast interviews as well as the sort of improv medieval/modern cusses that they would come up with for Natalie Portman to use for her lines. Some of the things that they got her to say were pretty hilarious, since the pixie-like actress looks so damn sweet and innocent.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
I laughed throughout the entire film, like seriously laughed. The movie wasn’t perfect, and it was most definitely stupid, but it’s stupidly fun. Definitely worth a good laugh and just seeing most of the cast kind of out of sorts in this medieval comedy, is well worth a watch as well.

I got to disagree also

I found the film very flat and boring really. I maybe chuckled a couple of times but no actually laughs at all. I was hoping for something funny, like in Pineapple Express, which was hilarious. This was just plain stupid.

What movie did you see?

I love James Franco but even he would admit that he sucked in this as did everyone. Natalie was completely wasted. What's the point of having her if you aren't going to allow her to show off? It was dumb & I think that "Eastbound & Down" is brilliant so you know where I'm coming from. Danny Mcbride is real hit and miss though. "ED" should have never left the great cast he had in the 1st season.

I agree with Theorendil. This movie sucked really bad. I only laughed once throughout the whole movie and it was at a Justin Theroux joke

Totally disagree

I'm afraid I'm going to have to completely disagree with you on this one mate! This was by far the worst comedy I have seen in years! It seemed to have been written by 13 year olds, with a 13 year old audience in mind! They seemed to think that the mere mention of the word "vagina" or "penis" (there's a scene where Zooey's character says "cervix" instead of "service" and then Franco's character corrects her, explains what a cervix is and ends it by saying "that's where I'll be putting my dick

Oh, the hilarity!) is a joke and in and of itself! The movie is 90% dick jokes, which to me is completely juvenille! And you know what the problem is? With the rise of the epic fantasy genre and games like WoW in the last few years, the fantasy quest genre is ripe for comedy! Real comedy, not dick jokes! If you want to see how you make fun of a whole genre, while also making good comedy, check out Galaxy Quest! For me, Your Highness was the biggest disappointment of the year so far! A shame for all the great talent involved... But hey, at least we get to see Natalie Portman's DIVINE ass in that chain mail thong!

does the F word offend you cause you sounded like a concerned parent in this review, since i have never seen a reference 2 language before.
