A scooper for "Ain't It Cool News" is claiming that veteran British actor Jim Broadbent has been cast in the upcoming sexagenarian actioner, INDIANA JONES IV, as, apparently, a Marcus Brody-like (played by fellow veteran British actor Denholm Elliott in previous installments) character. The scooper's exact phrasing was "…I heard Jim Broadbent confirm that he is in Indiana Jones IV…", which implies that Broadbent may have let the tasty scoop slip during an interview. Since we don't have a link for such an interview, we'll just call it a juicy rumor for now. If he is cast, however, what say you, schmoes and schmoettes? Though it seems unlikely there'd be any dissenting voices against an actor as talented as Broadbent. Actually, there's a good question - anyone think this is bad idea? THE FOURTH INSTALLMENT OF THE INDIANA JONES ADVENTURES is scheduled for release May 22nd, 2008.
Extra Tidbit:
Brody appeared in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and THE LAST CRUSADE only.

I didn't know Denholm died either. Sigh, forever lost in his own museum.
Crossing my fingers for Davies. |

Since Jones Sr and Brody have likely kicked the bucket or are incapable of following Indy around, I'll take Broadbent as Marcus's little brother or a new character....preferrably a newbie.
Oh, and danny.....Sallah/John would only work if they were doing something in Africa/Egypt area, like the last two times. In ark, it was happening right by his village, and some important guy had a house near his town or something like that in crusade. Besides, Davies already said (don't remember when) that he's not appearing in this. |

I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT
if the rumored chronology of the 4th movie is correct, then both Jones Sr. and Brody would most likely be dead. bringing them back with other actors is silly, and would most likely entail Indy dragging around a couple of extremely old men in wheel chairs.
not a good prospect.
Broadbent better be playing someone new. |

Oops, I didn't realize Denholm was dead. Okay, well what about John-Rhys Davies? |

Yeah, why would Brody be in the film? Denholm Elliott passed away a while ago. It's not even a possibility.
If this news it's true, it's great. This is a fantastic cast. If anyone could be a Marcus Brody-like sidekick, Jim Broadbent is it. |

I hope Brody wont return, Denholme passed more than ten years ago. He's a great actor, I just hope they keep the huge cast second to Ford, but like they say- the better the supporting cast, the more the star has to work. In that case Ford is going to have to work alot in light of these fellows. |

He's certainly a good actor and a welcome addition to the cast, but I'm concerned that none of Indy's friends like Sallah and Brody are going to be in the film. |
