Cabin pushed for 3D

Update:I just got this email from MGM Studios, here’s what they had to say on the push back: “The reason for Cabin’s delay is the conversion to 3D which with VFX and finishing will likely take around 6 months. Then the issue came down to availability of the 3D screen tracks which as you’re probably aware are limited. Thus we arrived on the holiday (MLK) weekend where we think the film can find a much larger audience.”

What is this?! The year of, ‘let’s push every film back for whatever stupid ass reason’.

So what’s the reason for pushing back Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard’s used to be upcoming CABIN IN THE WOODS? MGM reps say that since the early hype for the movie has been so outrageous that they are spending about six months converting the movie into 3D.

How long will it take? Or rather, will when the movie be released? The original date was February 5, 2010 and is now January 14, 2011. This is rather ridiculous. Why couldn’t they just release it regularly then do a 3D version later? Was there this huge demand for it in 3D that we were not aware of? Well regardless, it’s still happening.

Seriously, does everything have to be in 3D now? I want to be interested in a film and not teased until I just give up on the thing all together. Does it matter to you, the viewer, if a film is in 3D? What would you be willing to hold on for? Stop the madness! Though, SHUTTER ISLAND can tease me all it wants to.
