ASTRO BOY

Imagi, who brought us the CG-animated and unfortunately under-appreciated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles revamp TMNT, today announced the main voice cast for their upcoming ASTRO BOY, the CG-animated feature adaptation of the Japanese manga series of the same name. Joining Freddie Highmore as the titular character will be Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy.

Under FLUSHED AWAY director David Bowers, the film centers on an inventor who creates the titular powerful robot who becomes a superhero in the fictional Metro City and who, in the midst of a rift with his creator, must muster all his strength to fight a powerful alien menace. The film's set for release sometime next year.

Extra Tidbit: The original Astro Boy was first broadcast in Japan from from 1963 to 1966.

was pretty good, better than expected. Too bad they didn't hire Rintaro to do this Astro Boy (Metropolis was an awesome Tezuka adaptation)...

TMNT was great imo. It balanced the diffrent vibes of the comics and the cartoon pretty well and also brought something new to the table instead of giving us something we've already seen a million times. I was hoping for a sequel but i don't think I'll get it.

As for Astro Boy though. Meh, I'll wait to see more about it.

Anyway, hopefully "Astro Boy" will be more entertaining, and less (what's the word I'm looking for...) cheesy?!
