If you've been craving a badass mythological action movie, it would appear that CLASH OF THE TITANS is happy to oblige.

I'm definitely digging the look of INCREDIBLE HULK director Louis Leterrier's update of the 1981 gods-and-monsters flick, particularly how much of it seems practical in this modern all-CGI "Who's Harryhausen?" climate.

The official synopsis: In CLASH OF THE TITANS, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

Hell, he was the only thing to come out of Terminator Salvation with any credit, and if theres one thing you can't criticise Cameron for its picking lead actors (After all, he was the man who recommended Worthington to McG for T:S, after working with him on Avatar and that is what got him this job)

I personally prefer being able to see a movie without the lead actor's celebrity baggage getting in the way. Imagine District 9 with Will Smith or Tom Cruise in it... not as engrossing. Or American Psycho with Dicaprio in it (that was a possibility at one point)

I'm not sure if it was the music, the atrocious and completely redundant tagline, or the frantic editing, but that trailer just didn't work for me like I hoped it would.

Having said that, the film itself looks like it could be a really good time. Some of the visuals look amazing (the shot of Perseus riding Pegasus on the beach, the statue falling, etc.) and the effects look solid.

I also appreciate the use of actual locations for a change, you can tell the difference and it looks so much better.

I think if they had gone with an epic, orchestral score instead of the metal, it would have worked a lot better (the attempt to “300 up” the trailer being extremely off-putting).

It was so pop, basically mashing together 'best of' stories from mythology, not even differentiating between Greek and Roman - A modern effects driven remake only seems natural for a new generation of fans to dig, though I doubt anything will top Sir "The Man" Olivier's Zeus - with no disrespect intended to Liam Neeson who I'm sure will be solid as always. Nothing I'm seeing in this trailer (nicely cut, BTW) is making me worry, so I say bring this sucka on!

Nah, that's not weird, man. I'm looking forward to it, but also see the original as mostly just pap. It's not even really rooted in any real mythology and steals characters from greek and roman ideas. To me, Clash of the Titans is more of a promise than an actual brand. Just hoping to see some mythological monsters and heroes battling it out in an epic fashion. There's been a lot of movies in the style since 1981, but the characters from the ancient stories are just too great to forget about. I just hope it turns out half way decent, but who knows, you might be right. Trailers are usually an entity all unto their own, so it's always hard to tell, but I do really like the designs they showcased here.

Trailer for the remake looks nothing like the original ( which was awesome! ). Looks like they just bought the name and made an unrelated movie. This is not a remake by any means.

Anybody else find that comment ironic coming from the trailer for a remake? Still . . . as a fan of the original, this looks kinda cool. Hate the hard rock and the tagline.
