George Clooney doesn't slow down, attaching himself to projects even more often than sexy babes. Just last month he decided to kill some goats with his brain, and now he's taking a trip.

Clooney plans to star in THE TOURIST, based on a novel by Olen Steinhauer. The story is "a contemporary international thriller about a spy who risks everything to reveal a conspiracy after he's accused of a murder he didn't commit." Clooney's commitment is contingent on the adaptation from scribe Anthony Peckham, who also wrote Clint Eastwood's upcoming Mandela movie featuring Morgan Freeman.

This THE TOURIST is apparently unrelated to the recently announced project of the same name (an American remake of the 2005 French thriller ANTHONY ZIMMER) and the Hugh Jackman/Ewan McGregor flick DECEPTION, which also originally went by the same title.

Extra Tidbit: Clooney made a very brief cameo as a transvestite in the low-budget horror flick THE HARVEST, which starred his cousin Miguel Ferrer.
