Day of the Dead poster Mar. 25, 2008
Source: impawards.com by: Ben Barna

I’m assuming that because this remake of DAY OF THE DEAD is full of straight-to-dvd actors (who, mind you, once had legitimate theatrical careers), that this too will be headed straight to DVD. But maybe not—zombie movies are cheap enough to produce that they require very little return to turn a profit. This isn’t POSEIDON or anything. I’m not even sure why I’m writing about this poster. Movies like these shouldn’t be made and I shouldn’t be giving them credibility by writing about them. Apologies.

Extra Tidbit: D-Day is coming? Dead Day is coming? How lazy. How idiotic.

NICK CANON SHOULD STICK TO NICKELODEON
First of all this movie was crap. Its not a sequel to the remake of 2004's DAWN OF THE DEAD. This movie is like spitting on George Romeros glasses. You dont see a zombie until 30 minutes into it. Then once you see the zombie its not impressive. They take the NFL zombies which are more athletic dead, more than they were alive. Their roars sound like Jurassic Park reject sounds. The Zombies looks like Jared Leto's arm in REQUIEM. Bad film, bad script, and bad acting(except ving rhames he kicks ass in this movie).

COOL POSTER...
...but the film looks awfull thanks to Nick Cannon, who the hell cast this guy??? If your going to remake a classic do it with some freaking honor and respect to the original and don't go and cast "straight-to-DVD" actors (thanks to Ben Barna for that line) what a waste of a grate oportunity.

WELL....
dawn of the dead remake was pretty good, so we shouldn't bash this so much. Ving Rhames kicked ass in that movie and he's probably going to in this one too.

NO.
Spoonard: The criteria you listed do not make a "great zombie flick" - they simply make a "zombie flick". Great zombie movies require good writing, good acting (good B-acting is still good acting), and overall good filmmaking. It should be fresh and scary, or fresh and fun - not ANOTHER carbon-copy of the same formula. Hollywood has Montezuma's Revenge for Zombie flicks right now. All liquid shit, no substance, and it's drowning us all.

POSTER..
I like it but its very similar to the international dawn of the dead poster. I think it was dawn of the dead? It was one of the zombie movies. Just the head was facing us.

WHA...?
I think it's funny that all you are complaining about azombie movie. What are key things to a great zombie flick?

1.) Zombies
2.) Small group of people trying to survive in world populated by said zombies.
3.) Zombies eating small group of people trying to survive in a world populated by zombies.
4.) Mucho cheesy dialogue.
5.) Over the top gore.

That's it! Those five simple things make a great zombie flick. Now, get over over your seemingly high expectations for this movie and just realize it's a popcorn movie. It's not gonna win any awards for best picture or anything. Why? Because IT'S A ZOMBIE MOVIE!!!!

UH, IS THIS....
Is this supposed to be a sequal to the Dawn remake? Just wondering cuz Ving Rhames is in it. Is his character the same? The Dawn remake was killer, so even if this is getting a bad rep I'm sure I'd check it out for a crappy one day rental. But I agree with star_tak2000, not everyone is Zack Snyder so I wouldnt go in expecting much.
