Strike Back below!

Whereas I can't even decide what I'm going to eat for lunch tomorrow or what pair of dirty underwear I'm going to slap on, Guillermo del Toro has just signed on to direct, produce, or have some creative hand in a pocket of films that will keep him busy until the year 2017. Um, wow.

Deep breath guys, as I take you through the myriad of exciting projects that the prolific Mexican has lined up for himself in the decade to come. We all know that he is currently busy writing (and eventually directing) THE HOBBIT with Peter Jackson, which alone will consume him for the next 5 years. After that massive undertaking is complete, Del Toro is set to direct remakes of "Frankenstein", "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and an adaptation of "Drood" (all for Universal), a novel by Dan Simmons about Charles Dickens as a depraved muderer in London. Sounds awesome, I know.

As if that wasn't enough, del Toro will also be directing an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's WWII masterpiece "Slaughterhouse Five", one that he plans on making a lot edgier and true to the novel than the original 1972 adaptation. Phew! If all this goes according to plan, we are in for a world of cinematic hurt from the man already responsible for a couple of modern classics. Colour me excited!

Extra Tidbit: Guillermo is also clinging to the hope of directing his pet project, H.P. Lovecraft's "At The Mountains of Madness".

What happened to Dr.Strange, man. Come on Del Toro. Do a kick Ass Marvel movie for us with your imagination man. I rather see Dr.Strange and another HellBoy than another Hobbit triology and a war movie. Im sorry i might be alone on that one. Well dont forget about us Strange fans, Del Toro. Like yourself. Dont get me wrong, I will definately see the Jeykell and Hyde in a heartbeat. A Del Toro D...

All of these projects sound promising, but I would like to see another Hellboy movie to wrap up the series. Can't wait for the hobbit.

Actually, for a film debuting the weekend before "The Dark Knight" Hellboy II didn't do all that bad, even turning a bit of a profit. But since "The Hobbit" is such a chore and he's trying to keep his potential roster full of possible projects, there's little time at the moment to worry about another Hellboy film (though another live-action Hellboy movie might not be possible if the actors get ...

These are awesome movie plans and I think the reason we may not be hearing about Hellboy 3 is basically because I don't think it didn't do all that great. But i'm not sure, I know domestically, it didn't do that great, which is a shame.

All the mentioned projects sounds awesome - however I'd give anything for his version of "At the Mountains of Madness"!

Every single one of those things sounds amazing, but Del Toro directing Slaughterhouse Five is probably the greatest news I have ever heard.

In an interview with english film critic Mark Kermode Del Toro also talked about a movie about a boy and his dying mother that is juxtaposed against The Rapture.
