Destruction of NYC Jul. 17, 2008
by: Ben Barna

New York's been destroyed in movies over and over again. Then, at the beginning of this century, it kinda got destroyed for real. Not very cool. At all. But that hasn't stopped directors from taking a CGI-assisted bite out of the Big Apple, with movies like CLOVERFIELD and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW depicting a Manhattan in tatters. Now Gawker has presented us with a list of 15 clips of this fair town getting obliterated by all type of aliens, monsters, meteorites, tidal waves, and diseases.

Extra Tidbit: Are they forgetting any movies?

We're not offended , Preston, we say worse to each other in the street.

The most awesome thing about seeing NYC get a beating in films, like I am Legend, is that you get to see the streets you know so well in a state of serious fuckedupness.

PS-the logistics in cloverfeild were seriously compromised... especially that subway romp. And don't get me started on Spiderman...

I don't think he was trying to be funny with the 911 reference. He's just stating the obvious.

As far as movies go, I guess NY is like a turd you just can't flush eh? Keeps coming back for more.

Uh oh...just opened a can of worms, which could lead to a can of whoop ass. Sorry New Yorkers.

Mr. Ben Barna, that 9/11 joke of yours is borderline and a little risky.
