While he was out promoting DRAG ME TO HELL, even Sam Raimi couldn't say for sure if Kirsten Dunst would be back in SPIDER-MAN 4. But if the New York Post is to be believed, Dunst will return for the fourth installment. They spoke to SPIDER-MAN producer Todd Black who said Dunst is "definitely on board." Now before we get too excited (or disappointed), that quote isn't from the mouth of Black but from the Post (they provided no quotes from Black himself on this matter). During their talk, in which Black was promoting THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123, the producer also apparently squashed the rumor that the vampiric Morbius would be the film's villain. He did offer up some hints as to who it might be saying that filming would take place in New York and that New Yorkers "will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York." Huh?

I'm not sure of any major NYC-based Spidey villain except Kingpin and I really hope they don't go there. Then again, I'm not sure what to believe and if this is Black just throwing people off the trail, a miscommunication with a reporter or a newspaper trying to get some salacious quotes out of an otherwise boring interview. But would you be happy to have Kirsten Dunst back if it were true?

For continuity, yes. Less confusion for the audience. I hope they expand on Gwen too and don't just leave her in the dust. And let's see some Lizard!! Maybe Black meant New Yorkers would appreciate it because of The Lizard's affinity for the sewer system? Just a thought...

Bring her back already. wtf?! The producers should just get on with it and concentrate on writing a great movie - instead of all this BS quotes. im thinking its just a lame excuse to get some cheap publicity. and i'll say it one more time here -- MAKE PARKER A STRONGER PERSON ... not a $&^$#*@& PUSSY!!

Don't need it. The Dark Knight, Rachel Dawes? Oh that movie was horrible because Katie Holmes didnt come back...errr what? Frankly in my opinion Raimi needs to seperate himself and all of us from Spiderman 3 in as many ways possible. Plus Dunst isnt Mary Jane hot. Never was. Nice cans though lol.

Do a good job please...
I wanted Venom to be incredibly badass...and then I wanted some Carnage action. The best part of the entire movie (the pickings were slim) was when the shrill noise caused the suit to detach itself from Brock and suspend itself in the air. You know what Im talking about...? That scene was the only one I got excited for. I really,really dislike Dunst and don't particularly think she can...

I think that Dunst did a fair job as Mary Jane Watson,however;since the producers are trying to keep the Story interesting,I feel that a new fresher face should be casted as MJW.

Dunst just doesnt do it for me....
dunst was somewhat promising the first time around but i agree, i just dont feel that mj is the right role for her. she should either be written out or replaced. i still think playing off the 2nd movie's potential man-spider foreshadowing of peter's powers fluctuating, they should have lizard and kraven, with peter's man-spider thrown into the mix because then we have two solid villains...

i still think playing off the 2nd movie's potential man-spider foreshadowing of peter's powers fluctuating, they should have lizard and kraven, with peter's man-spider thrown into the mix because then we have two solid villains and peter all interacting together without abandoning a core theme of kraven hunting both lizard and man-spider. it would be cool cuz only kraven would be the straight villain so it could allow for some good dramatic depth and tension since only 1 of the 3 "villains" is actually evil.

BIN LADEN lol. They should have a reboot of venom, but this time do him some justice. Or maybe Carnage?? I could care less about any other villian at the moment. And if they wanna add a second villian which i sure hope they don't do... just have sandman floating around New York city like he did at the ending of sm3. Everytime the camera pans to the sky you would just see sand...

Continuity between the 4 films is more important than people's negative feelings about Dunst. That said, they need to severely sex up the movie MJ. She's supposed to be bikini-model hot.

F**k yeah! I also hope that Raimi wants the script to concentrate on the emotional side of things between Peter and MJ, Peter could be crying alot like "Oh, Mary-Jane..blaa blaa" You know, cos we haven't seen that kind of stuff enough.

Fuck. Well this sint off to a good start. My hopes are renewed with Raimi as a director as of DM2H but this series went bunk. Hopefully they get a good villian like in 2 and ignore MJ as much as possible. And on the extra tidbit? We are completely in agreement.

I don't think the problem is Dunst as Mary Jane I think its the incredibly annoying way they wrote her character. Especially in the 3rd movie. I think bringing her back for continuity and giving her better material is the best thing to do.

Could you be anymore f**king cryptic about the villain? I'm going to go on record and say that if snaggle tooth Dunce comes back as MJ part 4 is going to BLOW like a cheap hooker during fleet week. I like Kraven as the villian, not sure if Rourke can pull that one off though.

I liked her in all 3 films. But if its going to be somebody else, then let it be. If BDH hadn't already been cast as Gwen Stacy, I would've put her onboard the MJ Train.

I think most fans agree that Dunst was never the right choice. I'm not even sold on Toby as Spidey, but hey, WTF? After catching #3 on cable again the other day, I was reminded just how much I dislike Dunst in that role. She's got great acting chops, but MJ's not for her. I don't think at this point though the franchise could replace her, but rather write her out totally. How about...

That's just depressing.
Does anyone remember about a decade and a half ago when Dunst was actually a promising young actress? Bryce Dallas Howard (who's very hot and a natural redhead) would be a much better choice (don't give me any of that Gwen Stacy crap, either).

How about they start the movie with a clip of MJ falling to her death (reuse one from the earlier flicks) and Spiderman can't save her. Then the rest of the movie Peter Parker is overcoming his grief and falls into the arms of Gwen Stacey or Betty Brant

Raimi already leaked it.
First off Dunst said she would be back as long as Raimi and Toby were back, sure it was a few years ago but producers enjoy the idea of keeping the cast the same. Also, I still believe it will be Morbius. Raimi has been hinting towards him for a long time. I also could actually hope it could be the original sinister six, they were the best organization of villains and it would be cool...

I love how people complain that Kirsten Dunst isn't 'hot' enough to play MJ, but never acknowledge that Tobey Maguire is no oil painting himself. He looks like Rain Man. Kirsten is far too sexy to be believable as his girlfriend :P
