Hey DVD Doctor, Couple of questions... is blu-ray region coded? I was thinking of buying some U.S bluray discs that aren't released here in Australia. Also, What will my blu-ray player hooked up to my regular TV look like? My HD tv broke...Thanks! - Nicholas

Yes, Blu-rays are region coded, so be careful which ones you buy and where you buy them from. Region-free Blu-rays aren’t as easy to come by as region-free DVD players, but they’re out there.

As for what your Blu-rays will look like on your regular TV, they’ll pretty much look like regular DVD’s, or at least as good as DVD’s looked on your regular TV. You should still be able to play them, but the crystal clarity of Blu-ray won’t be much of an issue.

Hello. I understand that JoBlo lists all release dates upon availability, but I’m wondering if Breaking Bad Season 1, and any or all seasons of The Shield will even be released on Blu-Ray? Any information is greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time. -Nathan

Can’t say I’m familiar with this show

You can buy the DVD of Breaking Bad season 1 HERE. As for the Blu-rays of either show, there are no plans on either. The Shield is less likely since it’s off the air now and all of the DVD seasons are out. Breaking Bad would be more likely, but since it’s a smaller show on a smaller network, it still has its obstacles. Sorry, I wish I had better news for you.
