Doc – now that I finally took the leap and bought an HDTV, Blu-ray player and surround setup, I now have four remotes! I’ve been looking into buying a universal remote, but have no idea what I want or what I need. What do you suggest? - Jake

Well, the first thing you need to do is count how many things you want your remote to control. You may think you only need four, but think about things you might buy in the future, or if you want to use it in a different room as well. Once you decide on that, you can then think about what you want your remote to do.

Most remotes with LCD or touchscreens have similar features and it really depends on whether or not you’re insistent on having a touchscreen. I really like the touchscreen feature, so I went with a Harmony ONE remote and I love it. But the bigger, more expensive remotes are nice too, as are the less expensive Logitech remotes.

Hey doc, why does Disney insist on advertising Blu-rays before their movies…on a freakin’ Blu-ray? It doesn’t seem like someone with a Blu-ray already is the target market to try and sell Blu-rays.

Yeah, I don’t get that either. If you already have a Blu-ray player, why would you need to watch an advertisement for the format? I can understand putting those on DVD’s, but not Blu-rays. Oh well, it’s probably pretty cheap for them and it’s not too big of a deal to skip over them.
