In what could be called either a major turn for Blu-ray, or a sign of the decline of the high-def format, Troma Entertainment has announced that 2010 will mark the arrival of their first Blu-ray release.

According to a write-up on Blu-ray.com, co-founder "Lloyd Kaufman has announced that, starting January 2010, the veteran low-budget horror studio will release one title from its catalog on Blu-ray every month."

There are over 222 films listed in the Troma Movie Database. With a catalog as thick as that and a pace as slow as one-per-month, it would take the company over 18 years to put on shelves. Please note that not only will Blu-ray be obsolete by 2027, but so will shelves.

Which films from the Troma catalog do you want to see on Blu-ray? Buttcrack? Curse Of The Cannibal Confederates? Pterodactyl Woman From Beverly Hills?

As a Troma fan, I would only want the "good" ones on blu-ray. Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke'em High, Terror Firmer, Tromeo and Juliet, etc. However, I really don't see any true benefit blu-ray can give Troma's films...I sincerely doubt they would remaster them for high def if they even knew how.
