But there are more important things over here at the DVD Clinic, like home video numbers. Check out the Top 10 for the week of October 19th to the 25th…
Remember last week when we were all surprised that the champ, the Sandra Bullock-starring The Proposal, took in more rental revenue than #2-10 combined? Well this week, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took in $122.5 million, which is not just more than the competition, but more than four times their combined gross. In the double digits, The Proposal pulls in enough to surpass the $50 million mark and Monsters vs. Aliens pass $60 million. Gasping towards $10 million is Land of the Lost, which edges out the first Transformers (a lifetime gross of $286.1) for the #4 spot. Leading the bottom half of the chart is Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell, which drops two spots to #6, just in front of the second highest-earning new release of the week, the sixth and final season of The L Word. The only other debut on the chart is Wrong Turn 3, which pulled ahead of former champ X-Men Origins: Wolverine and third-weeker Bones.
Out on DVD and Blu-ray this week are: evil child horror The Orphan (BD/DVD); the weakest of the trilogy, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (BD/DVD); Woody Allen's latest, Whatever Works (BD/DVD); TV movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (BD/DVD); a box set for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (BD/DVD); Fred Dekker's Night of the Creeps (BD/DVD); the Criterion Collection's release of Z (DVD); and the STV Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure.
