Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Mar. 11, 2008

When it was announced that David Mamet would be directing a movie (REDBELT) about the world of mixed martial arts, I was thoroughly confused. It didn't exactly seem like a world that was ripe for a Mamet adaptation. But apparently the guy is a big jiu-jitsu aficionado and even has a purple belt. So REDBELT is his love letter to the sport, so to speak. It stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as a martial arts instructor who after a very Mametian series of events, is forced to step into the ring for the first time. We've got an exclusive look at the poster for the film below. Looks like somebody got knocked the eff out! REDBELT hits theaters nationwide on May 9th and you can find out more about the movie at the film's official site.

Most people thought it was crazy...
when Mike Nichols did a movie called Wolf (1994, 7/10), about werewolves...but that ended up being pretty good.

I'm down for Redbelt.

THE MAN
Chiwetel Ejiofor is a great upcoming actor who has yet to grab big headlines from Martin freaking Lawerence, for shame. so I'll be there, i liked him in Talk to Me, serenity, Children of Men, Inside Man, American Gangster, Dirty Pretty Things. Its not often an actor impresses me with EVERY performance.
