The intrepid folk over at Empire have snagged our first look (kind of) at Steven Spielberg's THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: SECRET OF THE UNICORN.

"This shot was taken during a few moments of down time on the set, and shows Tintin himself (Jamie Bell) and Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) talking with Spielberg.

You can see some more in the upcoming episode of Empire. For the mean time though, check this first behind-the-scenes pic by clicking ABOVE.

Source: Empire

Extra Tidbit: Thomas Sangster (LOVE ACTUALLY) was originally set to play the titular character, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts

It will be an awesome technical movie without feelings. Tintin is embodied in the 60's... No remake needed. Look at Jean-Pierre Talbot's movie if you wanna see Tintin.

Helmets
the helmets capture head motion and facial gestures in relation to the outline of the body of the actor so it all lines up for post work.

They also capture voice.

I'd guess that the names are so that the motion capture outfits don't get mixed up, since they're each specifically fitted for each actor.

I really hope this movie doesn't suck. I was very sad when Steven Moffat left, although hopefully they're working from his script, but I haven't much faith in Spielberg and Jackson's respect for the source material (as evidenced by Jurassic P...

I really hope this movie doesn't suck. I was very sad when Steven Moffat left, although hopefully they're working from his script, but I haven't much faith in Spielberg and Jackson's respect for the source material (as evidenced by Jurassic Park and The Lord of the Rings, great films, but not kind to the books they were based on).

hmmm
not sure what those crazy helmets are. that thing look like a microphone, but maybe its a camera to capture better facial animation.
I'm not sure, but if they are sticking with the little white dots to track facial movements, we can expect yet another film to suffer from uncanny valley syndrome. unless of course, they go for an obviously cartoonish look.

Fascinating...
This may turn out to be a good movie, plus Jamie Bell is about right for Tintin, so good casting choice there.

is it just me wondering why they have their name and characters name printed on their tight costumes. would the crew not know who they were otherwise?

TinTin Hate
Why is there so much Tintin hate? The truth is that Tintin is a much loved character around the world. It is a sad fact that he is not more well known in the states. I think this will be a great adventure movie. For all the haters...watch the cartoon or grab the comic. It's actually very good.

lol I was being sarcastic miguel, I know who Tintin is haha.... I just feel like I'd rather see Peter Jackson and Spielberg tackle something else. Two of my favorite directors on the same project does intrigue me to a certin extent, but I just never got into Tintin as a kid.

Cool
I can't wait for this film. I loved the cartoon, comics and books when I was a kid.
I can't believe Jackson and Spielberg are doing it too with a top notch cast.
