Everyone knows that "Showtime" is coming out this weekend. And I just wanna know how you think it's gonna be or what's the B.O. outcome, etc.

i concure..it should have a decent first week..maybe 3rd in the top ten but thats it...its gonna go fast. i personaly will be there tomorrow. i love the "new" eddy murphy career and robert has been fantastic in his recent comedy rolls. so i think i will like it as long as it doesnt become too much of a typical action flick. but overall i think its gonna bomb sales wise..but i think it will be a good movie.

i dont think it'll b a huge hit, but entertaining and funny enough for the cop comedy/deniro/murphy fans. i think i'll definitely check it out when it comes out on dvd if i dont watch it.

I've seen it. It's really funny. It's going to be #2 or even #1 this weekend at the box-office. I don't think ICE AGE is a shoo-in at #1. SHOWTIME has the widest appeal of the three films. Its PG-13 rating makes it family-friendly. The action/comedy genre has a huge following. And don't forget the African-american audience. Last but not least, STAR POWER. The reviews have been mostly negative, but it's more of a crowd-pleaser. Also, don't forget that four of the last five #1 movies at the box-office (COLLATERAL DAMAGE, JOHN Q., QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, THE TIME MACHINE) were critically mauled. Like I said, I've seen it. The audience laughed throughout and applauded at the end. The 95-minute running time and the very wide release (2900+ screens) should also help.

I disagree with Max. I think Ice Age is a definite shoo-in for the #1 spot. All of his reasons that Showtime will make money may be right, but I still think it'll be #2 or #3. The Shrek-style animated movies have as big a following as the action/comedy genre, if not bigger because those style movies are more rare. Plus, kids will want to see Ice Age, and Snow Dogs alone should be proof enough that kids = $$$.

Colin - I'm leaning towards ICE AGE being #1 myself. All I'm saying is that it's going to be closer than most are predicting. And if there's a surprise at all this weekend it would be SHOWTIME pulling an upset. One added bonus, though, is the CLONES trailer that's supposed to be attached to ICE AGE. That alone would bring another few million. On the other hand, people need a break from all the bad news and the depressing war movies and may look to SHOWTIME for relief. Anyway, I predicted $35 million for ICE AGE and $30 million for SHOWTIME.

Showtime 7/10...

Showtime is a good, funny buddy-cop movie with loads of action and alot of laughs and it was a blast to watch. De Niro and Murphy have great chemistry and make a terrific pair...as they become partners for a new TV reality cop show. De Niro as a hard nose no nonsense cop is hilarious as he is forced into this ludicrous made-up world of reality tv. Murphy is also good as a regular cop who aspires to be an actor. If you can look past the generic formula of Cops busting a illegal gun-runner(what a friggin awesome gun too) and just enjoy De Niro and Murphy together on screen...plus there are many inside jokes about cop movies, reality shows and Cop shows etc. Overall Showtime is great fun with two great stars that will entertain.

I saw Showtime and it was what most movies should be - entertaining. It won't be number one at the box office as I passed several mothers and their kids in line, no doubt to watch Ice Age. I liked that it made fun of reality tv (which does suck). This movie wasn't anything special, but it was good. William Shatner's part wasn't that big, which is good, and De Niro and Murphy rocked. De Niro playing the rough and tough veteran, and Murphy playing the stupid-ass rookie. They made a good comedy team. (7/10)

The opening day gross was a bit disappointing but it should bounce back Saturday. Good word-of-mouth should overcome all the bad critical buzz. And those who rushed out to see ICE AGE and RESIDENT EVIL, movies with built-in audiences, will now check out SHOWTIME. Its Saturday b.o. should be higher than RESIDENT EVIL's, I hope.

This Movie was OK, it was as funny as i was hoping, it did get better as it went on, the story was kind of lame, the chemistry wasn't there at all, rene rousso just seems to get on my nerves, william shatner wasn't funny, but for the few funny scenes that were in the film, i give it 5/10

I give this movie a thumbs up and a 7/10.

I tried to go see Resident Evil but the damn internet listed the time for the show incorrectly and the chicky behind the counter said the time posted at the theater was incorrect so we bought tickets only to find out we where 15 minutes late!

So pissed we went over to Showtime, and it was worth it.

Yes parts where formulaic but the action was decent and the action I thought was great.

Acting like you are overacting is always something I find funny. Eddie does it very well.

Yes you can see some of the story coming but it delivers well and I found it funny, not boring or too long and it does not drag.

I would recommend it, and having Shatner play himself that was a brilliant move.

And you must see the out takes at the end where Shatner talks about his younger days, I will not spoil it but it was great.

Out.............
