Should I cut down on the threads?

Hey everybody,

With the recent arguments that have come along concerning my amount of posting new stories, I've come to the conclusion that no one is happy with the amount of threads I create so I've decided to ask all of you, do you all want me to cut down on the stories I post?

Please be as honest as you want, it's not a problem and if you all want me to, I'll cut down then since the movies will not get their own official threads anyways on this forum.

Yeah the search function is pretty much useless, but all I'm saying is that there should not be 10 X-Men 3 threads on the first page of the Upcoming forum. I know it's not just you, but you are a MAJOR offender.

I know you claim JoBlo has sided with you, but I'm not sure he understood the issue when he said that. Before recently, the way this forum worked is that upcoming movies which are not in the Franchise subforums each had their own threads- a place for any piece of upcoming news, trailers, pics, whatever. When you found some news, you search the movie title, and put it in the official thread. And when people saw a thread bumped, they'd check the official thread for the news. Easy. With the search function being crap now, it is almost impossible for the board to operate this way. But we can do our best, especially when there are clearly multiple threads for single movies all over the 1st page.

With the search down, multiple threads are going to be inevitable. But we can cut down by not staritng a new one when there are already multiple on the 1st page.

Bahh... who cares. ;) It aint THAT big a deal, man. once he starts calling you names, or just breaking the rules in general, then you can complain all you want... but until then, what he actually “does” isn’t worth discussing.

Flooding forums with unnecessary topics is annoying, but that's not what ElderPredator is doing. Sure, he has made about 1/3 of the topics in the upcoming movies forum, but that's simply because he puts more effort into it than others. To be honest, I think active schmoes like ElderPredator are only good for this place. I don't find his topics attention-craving, which is the case when people do flooding.

If ElderPredator would be a moderator in the upcoming movie forum, people would probably appreciate more what he is doing. I'm not saying that he should be a mod, I'm just making a point that he is doing exactly the thing why the forums exist in the first place.

Sure, there are a LOT of X-men threads there, but they have different content and the film IS one of the most anticipated of the year, and it IS just a few weeks away, so I think it's justified.

It would be different if someone was making multiple threads about a movie nobody gives a flying fuck about. But since every X-men threads gather a lot of response, the amount of threads is reasonable.

Just my two cents.

Thanks a lot dudeman69, Sigur, Tai, Tukka, I really appreciate everything you guys have said. That has always been my point for these threads, the old ones eventually dissapear with time and I do like to keep people up to date. I make a good effort to do this as Tukka said and thanks for that. This is a lot of fun and I shouldn't have to fight with people about anything.

In a perfect world, topics with the same subjects such as movies, actors, etc. would be tied into the same thread. Your threads aren't upsetting me personally, so I'm neutral on this subject. That said, I'm deferring to JoBlo's judgement since this is his party. Unless he says something to the contrary, post away.

No man, what I hate is those people who never take the time to create a new thread. And then they sit back and snipe at those who do make a lot of them. Ex, "Dude, there's already is a thread about this. Uhhhh that's what the search button is for!"

So keep them comin. I'd rather have a guy who puts up twenty threads with maybe a couple duds in there then a guy who never takes the time to make any.

I find your threads enjoyable. Besides you cant make everyone happy, it seems like youre following the rules and even though a few members might think its a bit much for their taste, obviously the majority has no problem with how often you post, it would even seem from the respoonses that most people think the board is better off with you here :)

I just want it to be clear that I never had a problem with amount of threads you started. It's just the repetitive threads. Yes the search is broken, but there really is no reason for 5 X-Men threads on the 1st page. That's just annoying. It's not how things used to work here and I am surprised some of the older members aren't backing me up on this. I know I'm making this a bigger deal than it really is, but it really irks me.

Thanks for everyone's responses on this. I don't think this is something that we should go through every day, but in this case, I guess some peeps were complaining about it, so why not "air it out".

We don't have an issue with members who start a lot of threads as long as they have substance and aren't being posted simply for the "sake" of upping their thread count or simply because they're bored-- you'd be surprised.

Granted, our SEARCH ENGINE is currently fucked, so that prevents some people from using it more efficiently, but at the same time, you can't always FORCE everything into 1 THREAD all the time, so as long as it doesn't go overboard-- and believe you me, WE TELL PEOPLE IF THEY GO OVERBOARD-- I think it's fine, as long as it's feeding content into our forums.

All that said, I think this thread has run its course and so let's get back to talking about movies, shall we? Muthafuckin' snakes, yo!!
