Tarantino To Direct Hendrix Movie?

Ben Gilbert - LAUNCH U.K. & Ireland

Quentin Tarantino will direct a forthcoming biopic about Jimi Hendrix, according to reports.

The infamous filmmaker is said to have agreed to shoot the film, which is thought to have been in production for some months.

Tarantino will collaborate with Leon Hendrix, Jimi's brother, on the movie, and will be given full access to his name, likeness, and archive interview footage for the project.

Shooting is expected to begin later this year, with the movie scheduled to take in numerous cities that played host to the life of Hendrix, including Seattle, New York, Toronto, and London.

meh, I'd rather choose Inglorious Bastards.

So would I, I could care less for a Jimi Hendrix biopic since I never really liked his music to begin with. It's good music but I was never really a big fan.

This actually sounds promising to me. It will be interesting to see Tarantino's eclectic style of editing mixed with Jimi Hendrix's guitar.

man, i love tarantino, and i love hendrix. but this sounds shitty. especially since everything i've read says lenny kravitz will star.

that, and 99% of biopics suck.

i guess this means we won't get inglorious bastards till 2012.

It would be extremely bad ass to see this but I think it might just be a rumor.

There's no basis for this. Tarantino never plans projects so far ahead of time. Right now he needs to focus completely on Grind House and get it done already so that he can get on to Inglorious Bastards already, which to me sounds like a far more interesting project than the one he's working on now.

Also, I'm not too fond of Tarantino doing a biopic... it's a very limiting genre, and he might take too many liberties. Besides, I just don't see him doing it, it doesn't seem to me like his style.

I just don't see Tarantino doing a biopic - the genre just doesn't fit his style of directing, writing, or chronology-type editing. Of course, I guess he could try to make it his own, but that might hurt the movie itself. I think he should stick with his own style and creativity. Don't look elsewhere for moviemaking motives.

He'll do this right after he's done with FRIDAY THE 13TH and FORTY LASHES.

I heard people talking about a movie like this for a LONG ass time. I personally think that Andre 3000 would be perfect for the role. He looks like Jimi, and can play guitar.

I definetly would like to see Q do Bastards instead of this, but I'll still be here opening day (if its made). I just have a bad feeling that if he does make this movie, its gonna be about 20% fact, 80% Tarrantino.

This sounds dumb. I would much rather have Tarentino do a real movie. I don't care for Hendrix's music or his life.

Not a good match. GIve that bio shit to Oliver Stone and force Tarantino at fucking gunpoint to get Inglorious Bastards made for fucks sake already!

Quentin Tarantino dismisses Hendrix film
Contrary to reports, he will not be making the movie
Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he is not making a Hollywood film about the life of the late Jimi Hendrix.

Reports emerged last week that the 'Pulp Fiction' director was at the pre-production stage of the untitled biopic.

It was believed that he was also working alongside Hendrix's estate on the project.

However, talking to pagesix.com, a spokesperson for Tarantino said: "It's not a project Quentin has any involvement with, and his representatives have never been contacted by anyone associated with it."

Tarantino also spoke to Ain't It Cool News, saying the reports were a "complete fabrication" and that "there's not even an iota of truth to it".

Thank GOD.

I think Tarantino will be disappointed to learn that Hendrix never killed anybody by means of pliers and a blowtorch.
