The clip from the tonight show is up. I really hope they plan on polishing the FX more, I love the clip but coming from a guy that has been waiting for this movie for three years and supporting even when others said it would suck because of Ratner. They NEED to polish the clip.

Haha, this movie's gonna be bad ass. You gotta love how Logan's strutting around like nothing's happening. :D

I'm not watching it, I don't want to be spoiled in anyway!

I wouldn't worry too much if the clip looks "unpolished"; clips shown on TV or the internet are notorious for being edited differently from what actually appears in the movie. And odds are Colossus' FX are unfinished and still being worked on as we speak.

Yay, another X-Men 3 thread! (I know this has been beaten to death, but I just wanted to mention it again so Elder doesn't think I have a personal vendetta against him).

Now that that's out of the way. For what it is, the clip is pretty sweet. The effects are certainly unfinished, namely Colossus. And I hope we get a full view of the sentinel in the actual film. The effects are one thing, but I'm also worried about the dialogue. It's pretty awful. No amount of post is going to fix that. So we'll have to wait and see how it comes together.

I agree, "Don't get your panites in a bunch." Ummmm...ok.That was awful.

But, in my opinion, we are just going to see the Sentinels in the DR and this scene is from that. Logan didn't seem to worried and neither did anyone else. Storm saying "work as a team" leads me to believe that the younger X-Men are just training with the older ones. So, we finally get to see Sentinels in a X-Men movie, but not the way we wanted to.

not so fast though. Bolivar Trask is gonna be in the film, and he created the Sentinels. In trailer, he has a scene where he says something to the president along the lines of "You know what must be done..." My guess is that after a first encounter with the Sentinels, they make a program in the DR to get the kids prepared for combat. then, we see them later again in the final battle...

One of the writers, Simon Kinberg or Zak Penn, in a Q & A at Xverse made it clear that the sentinels do not have a significant role in the film. They are not in it much. I fear that the Danger Room could be their only scene.

Found it, it was Kinberg.

Q: Is it safe to assume, based on the article in Premiere magazine, that there won't be more than one Sentinel-like robot featured anywhere within the film?

A: Spoiler. But I will say that Sentinels are not a big part of the movie.

after seeing that clip and reading that last thing, i have this burning feeling that someone needs to get their throat slashed. he better just be pulling our legs over our heads, feeding us shit like that. if thats the case, they should have not shown us the sentinel footage to build up that hype, regardless if they're in there or not. but then again, i'm also sure that that footage was a kind of emergency button that was needed to be pushed with all of the bad rep this movie has been getting. i'm still seeing this regardless, i'm a fan of the x-men movies, and i personally might be one of the few that actually likes brett ratner. i worked with him when i was on the pilot episode of prison break, and believe it or not, he's a fantastic director. the only thing that will skew me away from this movie is if there is a 20-25 minute long orgy between several 3-toed sloths, several elephants, and all of the mutants. x-3 is gonna have a certain level of ass-kickery no matter what (unless above incident happens).

Am I the only one who is really turned off by this clip, and it makes me even more worried about the film than I already am? I thought it was a very weak film. The set looks like a Hollywood backlot, Halle Berry's line delivery is awful, the lines themselves are dumb, and the whole Wolverine vs. Sentinel thing was just... uncool, really corny and just bad filmmaking. I'm really starting to worry, and I know it's too early to say these things, but just by watching that clip, I badly wish that Bryan Singer wouldn't have abandoned the franchise.

CyclicNightmare

In all fairness the franchise abandoned him. He was more than willing to do X3 after he finished Superman Returns, but Fox wanted to move forward with the project.

hmmmm..i really wasnt impressed with anything in that.

I would have rather seen something more actor driven then action driven at this point. The human parts MADE X2 what it is to me.

I hope X3 doesnt stray from that.

Still think the movies going to be good, but that wasnt the best clip to show off the movie...not to me anyway.:)

Mr. Gray

IT'S THE GODDAMN FASTBALL SPECIAL!!!

how the hell can you hate that?? the fucks the matter with ya'll??

Shockwave
04-29-2006, 07:36 PM
Because it looked like a movie set rather then a war zone?

Because it looked like Wolvie was being lifted by strings rather then being thrown?

Thats what "the fuck" is a matter with me anyway.

Like i said above, i just dont think it was the best clip to show.

Looks Ok. I'm still a little skeptical, but I will definantly be there opening day.

LordSimen

Two things:

The movie set look is most likly because it's the Danger Room and they probably went with a more realistic looking Danger Room that's actually a real ROOM. Atleast I'm guessing that's the reason.

Three, from the sound of the way those lines were delivered it appears to me that the audio dubbing hasn't been completed and that it was edited funnily.

The FX don't look all that finished.

I am slightly worried because of this clip because it does appear excessivly corny and does sport some shoddy EFX, but I'll still be there opening day giving the movie the benefit of the doubt.

Very cool, Very, very cool. but I was hoping for more from the Sentinel and hope there is more in the beginning of this scene in the movie.

From the trailer, the lines and effects do not look half as bad in this clip, so no worries there.

Anyone happy the Wolverine is finally as badass as his comci counterpart. No offense to Hugh's last 2 performances, but you have to agree its a lot closer to the comic now (or at least seems to be)

It is definately the Danger Room set in a "Days Of Future Past" setting.

You're absolutely right.

Storm's line of "They aren't ready yet" completely gives it away.

That's what I was thinking. Still like the line: "Hey, Tin Man . . . "

The movie's still a month away, still time to do a little polishing before it hits theaters.

I was referring to fogiving them for the very fake looking backlot that they are in. If its the danger room then there is a reason it looks like a inclosed set since thats exactly what it is.

Surely something as innovative as the Sentinels would only be made into a DR program after they'd been faced before.

Hmmm...

Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and accept the fact that the Danger Room explains the cheap, obviously backlot-looking set and the nonchalance of the heroes in the face of danger. But does the Danger Room excuse dialogue so cheesy it harms the ears? Bad line delivery? Uninspired cinematography? Iffy special effects? I mean, "That was my last cigar"? And Wolverine stepping out from behind the Sentinel's head? It's just so... wrong.

This movie is gonna be great imo! Why do i think this:

Little things i liked so far,

-the mass battles and lots of different mutants like we see in the comics and in the animated series! Not just one verses one mutant battles, i'm talking huge like the battle between the x-men vs de imperial guard (to kill or let life the phoenix)!
- beast being spot on cast
- wolverine going beserk and beeing even more a "pain in the ass"/"wolverininess"
- phoenix for just being in the movie (haven't seen her in full power, something they are saving for the movie i guess)
- dangerroom
- etc etc ... (please x3 don't dissapoint me now :D)

I think that x1 was more of a introduction, x2 beeing a great movie but on the action still kept itself in check, x3 is going to me more like the animated series, over the top action with some great characters!

Jesus Christ, that was amazing.

Great Moments
- Wolverine strolling around as everything around him is falling apart.

- THE FASTBALL SPECIAL! That was a great shot of Hugh Jackman being thrown.

- The "vague" Sentinel head. It's more of an allusion to the Sentinel than the "OMG HERE'S A SENTINEL"

- HUGH JACKMAN IS WOLVERINE. 'NUFF SAID.

- OH yeah, Wolverine lighting up his cigar with a flame on the car. niiiiiiiiice.

Pretty cool clip.

Even if it's all taking place in the Danger Room, anything Sentinel-ish in a X-Men movie is A OK with me.
