New Writer on Clash of the Titans Remake
Source: Variety May 1, 2006
Warner Bros. Pictures has hired screenwriter Travis Beacham to pen a remake of the 1981 cult classic Clash of the Titans, says Variety. Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road is producing.
In 2002, Warners tapped John Glenn and Travis Adam Wright to pen the script. Beacham said he is writing a new script, and that he intends the redo to be darker and more realistic than MGM's "Clash."
The storyline will still revolve around Perseus' journey to save the Princess Andromeda, during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa.
The original marked the final film on which Ray Harryhausen did special effects, as well as the last in a string of films he produced with Charles Schneer.

Excellent, I'd look forward to a re-make but that depends entirely on the Director.

Are you fkn serious>
Damn, im a huge Ray fan abd have all his movies, But this is quite shocking to me. but i want to se what it turns out like. They reamde his 1963 jason and the argonauts. and that was shite. I hope they do a agood job on the remake of Clash. And I sincerely hope that Ray is at least given the heads up and maybe a minor role inits develepment even if its just a consultant of sorts
Ray is 86, go Ray:)

As much as I love Clash Of The Titans it's probably the most flawed of the numerous projects that Ray Harryhausen worked on. So I think there's definitely a lot of potential here. There's certainly a lot of scope for some cool special effects. I'll file this under "could be cool" until more information is available.

hmmm, i dont know what to think of it, on one hand i love the film and think it should be left alone, but on the other with CGI they could make something amazing
ill have to wait to see who they get onboard to direct

The return of the Kracken to the big screen? As much as I love the original, if they get a good director and effects team, I will be there opening day. Any names floating around in you guys' heads for good directors?

I loved the original for all that it was...cheesy,ridiculous entertainment. I don't want a Clash of the Titans that isn't cheesy...

The original Clash of the Titans is definition of the word cheesy!
But a remake with today's technology could kick some serious ass!

As much as I love Rodriguez, NO. The movie needs to be fun, but not in the let's throw in anything we can to make it fun. Watch From Dusk Till Dawn or Desperado. Then watch Clash of the Titans. Exactly.
Also the scenes with the big creatures in Spy Kids 2 were horrible.

..i wonder if they will go the action/comedy route ala THE MUMMY remake or a more LOTR approach?
I could dig either one really. Imagine what Peter Jackson could do with this. Hes done drama AND camp.

Something tells me Wolfgang Peterson will be on the potential list of directors. And I can see Colin Farrell playing Perseus. But who to play Zeus?
I liked watching the original as a kid, but the poor special effects involving stop-motion take away from it now. The story's still good and the ending is awesome. So with CGI and all that, the remake could improve a bit on the original. I'd go and see it.
