Hey everybody,
Well, it's official ladies and gentlemen, the worst idea since Alone in the Dark is upon us. The folks over at Fangoria magazine have reported that Jan De Bont's film company, "Tulip Productions", are preparing to make a new sequel to the legendary Francis Ford Coppola classic. Here is a brief blurb on what is happening:
Tentatively titled The Un-Dead, after the subtitle of Stoker's original novel, the script was written by Ian Holt and is set 25 years after the book's events. All the surviving protagonists—including Jonathan and Mina Harker and Professor Van Helsing—appear, along with Inspector Cotford, a character cut from the original manuscript, facing the bloodsucking Count once again.
That is just goddamn awful and the only way it would work is if all the stars such as Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins and Winona Ryder reprise their roles. I'll bite my tongue for now and see what happens but for now, my stomach is doing flip-flops....*pukes on the keyboard*

What do you all think?

I'm sorry but even with Reeves, Hopkins, and Ryder came back, I still wouldn't watch it. The only way it would fucking work is if it was another great performance by Oldman, which I don't see happening.
And how long is Van Helsing's lifespan? He was an old man in the movie, I'd think 25 years later he wouldn't be doing much but sitting there... and The Un-Dead? I'm thinking that's not gonna be the title... Sounds too... Like everything else...

A sequel to Bram Stokers Dracula you say? I have a bad feeling about this. I'm a huge fan of Vampire movies and I personally feel that if they go ahead and give the green light on this sequel it's going to be ugly! First and far most they should give a SE DVD treatment to Bram Stoker Dracula to begin with. (Oh by the way for all you Dracula fans Todd Mcfarlane creator of Spawn is now bringing out a 2-pack of "The Wolf" and "The Bat" from the Motion Picture "Bram Stokers Dracula".) So, as I was saying if they do go ahead and put this out I wouldn't go see it at the theatres I'll just wait until it comes out on DVD.

man, ditch keanu and winona but keep hopkins and oldman and id go see it. if they actually make the script and feel of the movie loyal to stokers original work, then it will likely be pretty good. but jan de bont isnt exactly known for his great, emotional epics. ill see it probably, but i aint looking foreward to it.

Coppola needs to gather up the Corleone family and kill everyone involved with this.

Oh Lord?!?! I guess Hollywood hasn't learned about sequels to vampire movies without the original stars. Remember Queen of the Damned, sequel to Interview with a Vampire? That movie got bashed critically and bombed at the box office. Unless they get Gary Oldman back, I see similar things happening to this sequel. Hell, unless they get Coppola to come back too, this movie will be lame.

I liked Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned. I think the problem with that film was it shouldn't of been a mish-mash of The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned novels.
The film should of been called The Vampire Lestat and based on that. Another thing that would of been better is a different director.
I'm not really excited, or turned off by this news. Its inevitable that a sequel would be made someday. They should go ahead with this and if they get too much negative feedback about it they should just make it another adaptation of the original novel.

Hey, as long as they bring back Monica Bellucci as one of Dracula's brides, I'd see it.

I agree. Francis Ford Coppola's movie is good, but I would't call it a classic. Oldman is spectacular and the production design is inspirational, but the movie suffered from the awful casting of Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder (at least Ryder has proven herself as a good actress in other movies). It is certainly not a legendary film, at least not that I know of.

How can you make a sequel to the movie if Dracula died at the end?

Haha, no no I mean with the Dracula character in past movies. Universal and Hammer Studios built entire franchises on the character, always bringing him back to life. Just because he was killed in Bram Stoker's Dracula doesn't mean the wouldn't be able to bring him back.

Ohhhh my bad I see what you mean. That would be bullshit though because the movie was supposed to end that way and why the hell would they make a sequel. They need to come up with some original ideas for vampires.

Coppola's movie was crap. Well-shot crap, but crap. What was the point of calling it "Bram Stoker's Dracula" if you're going to monkey with the plot? The whole point of that title is to imply that it's a direct adaptation of the book. The entire love story was tepid and unbelievable. Why they'd want to make a sequel to a movie that should never have been made in the first place I can't imagine. But then, this is Hollywood...
