"The Jetsons" Movie Getting Started!

Hey everybody,

Our buddies over at Variety.com have announced that Warner Bros. a.k.a. the money machine, has hired on screenwriters to start a draft for "The Jetsons" movie but there is still no word on when it will start filming or who is starring. Here is a blurb and the link:

De Line will produce the live-action feature with Denise Di Novi, who has been developing the comedy project for well over a decade, working with a string of writers. The storyline will be based on the popular animated Hanna-Barbera TV show, which revolved around the travails of George Jetson, wife Jane, daughter Judy, son Elroy and their dog, Astro.

Let's hope they don't fuck this up like the Scooby-Doo films were. I don't like how they make these adaptations full of teen-style rubbish.

agreed. i'll prolly just wait , i was never a big fan, i think the family guy jetsons is better than the whole cartoon, lol

The Jetsons is too campy to make a good movie out of. Just look at the Flinstones movie, which clearly stank. Only the Jetsons movie will be different because it'll probably look even more fake - I would totally expect them to abuse and overuse CGI with The Jetsons. Ah well.

Gee, let's see:
Flintstones (and prequel) - lame
Scooby-Doo (and sequel) - looked lame; had no desire to see it

The Jetsons - I can only imagine how bad this'll be.

The Jetsons never appealed to me as a kid. I mean, a futuristic family with a robot? How the hell did that robot not kill off the whole family after taking in their day by day activities?
