She's not talking about that Rogue. She's talking about the killer crocodile one from the director of Wolf Creek that is filming now.

What about this Ferryman movie?

I am interested cause for some strange reason i actually quite dig John Rhys Davies (please no laughs!!) and cause i read that Fangoria said it was a real classic horror like The Thing and The Fog with some serious blood and scares.

Found some stuff on google but no detail (which is of course what i want now that i have got it on my mind, a bit like chocolate if you know what i mean)

Ps Totally looking forward to Casino Royale also....

I just picked up the latest OnFilm (kiwi movie mag) and there's a big fuck-off-picture from the Ferryman shoot on the cover, It's a photo of John Rhys Davies holding a blood machete and standing over someone. Looks pretty full-on.

There's a lot of stuff in the mag about the movie but I they're not giving much away. Sounds like it's going to be meaty though.

Thanks for this. I am not in NZ so i guess i will have to wait for some more publicity to come out.

Is anyone able to scan the picture and get it on this site? is that possible?

I did find something on Fangoria's website about the film. They seem to be saying that it is a hardcore horror in the classic sense of the word.

Gotta love that....

Sorry I'm really new to this site so I'm not sure how post a piccie. I can scan it but if someone tells me how I'll do it.

I hgave to be honest I thought Nemsis Game was a pice of shit but there is a quote from OnFilm that got me excited.

"So often in horror movies we find ourselves screaming at the screen. "Don't go in there! Or "Take the gun! Take the gun!" In The ferryman we avoid this by giving the characters literally no wat out. They cannot escape the evil - they're in the middle of the fucking ocean. That's a huge part of horror, Nowhere to run to."

The film makers are obviouslt referencing WOLF CREEK. remember the bit where she left the gun behind! I went ape shit! I'm a proud kiwi but - apart from PJ - we make wanky art movies this sounds like it breaks the mold. I hope.

Not sure if it reveals more than you already know or not. Producer Matthew Metcalfe was also a producer on the underrated indie thriller Nemesis Game so I have high hopes for this one.

No word on a possible U.S. release date yet.

Thanks all. You guys have more info than i can sem to find which is why the internet is so cool i guess.

Its funny that you guys picked up on what i had heard also. That the film is a classic horror that delivers on evil in the true sense of the word.

Also, i did a google search and folund something from a paper called the new zealand herald. They had a quote from teh film makers that said "we want a film where the kids are saying to each other, 'have you heard about the ferryman, its got that scene in it'".

So i want to know what that scene is? I gotta say i love horrors (like say Evil Dead) that go there and see evil take a form that we have never seen before. (Think tree rape scene in evil dead). Who knows what 'the scene' is, but i gotta say i like the sound of it.

No idea about the scene. Actually not much idea about the story to be honest.

A group of kids go out on a boat and something bad comes onboard - my guess is the Ferryman. There's nothing on IMDB about this so there's not much more to add I'm afraid.

Before you think I'm getting obessive. I know all about Black Sheep. Knew WETA were doing it and it looks really like a kick-arse NZ horror/comedy film. But somehow The Ferryman slipped under the radar. So I've been sniffing around trying to find out more. Here's a post with lots of interesting photos.

If anybody has any inside scoops - story, characters whatever I will be your best friend. The geeks at Aintitcool are calling it THE FERRYMEN so maybe there's more than one.

Ah-ah! I knew there was something up here! I movie no one's heard anything about! Remember Jubilee? I move that turned out to be Lord of the Rings? The word on the street here in NZ is that the Ferryman is a cover. But what for?

El Rancho. I am confused by your last post??

The film seems pretty real to me? All the newspaper clippings from NZ seem pretty real and the Fangoria website says that they have been on set.....

R u saying that film is actually a big hollywood blockbuster?;)

I can't be sure. There's nothing on IMDB about it and I suspect it's something bigger. That's all.

Can't find much about it on the net so I suspect...

Although one site did report that it's the film version of Christopher Golden's book The Ferryman.

Amazon has this to say about the book.

Stoker Award-winner Golden (Straight on 'Til Morning; countless Buffy the Vampire Slayer titles) offers an intelligent, compelling ghost story in the classic horror tradition. When Boston teacher Janine Hartschorn loses her baby at birth, she has what seems to be a near-death experience Charon the Ferryman of Greek myth comes for her, but she throws away the silver coins he demands. After her recovery, however, Janine realizes that something real is after her and also after her best friend, lesbian Annette Muscari; her old lover, David Bairstrow(whom she left to take up with her old flame Spencer Hahn, the stillborn baby's father, who in turn deserts her); her mother and so on. Fortunately, Janine and her brainy friends know how to survive, and with the help of a wise priest, Father Hugh Charles, they get almost literally to the bottom of the mystery (the final, harrowing confrontation is on the Charles River). First, though, our heroes must suffer further losses and some awful assaults on their sanity, as when Annette finds the apparently perfect lover in a simulacrum of an old girlfriend of David's, whom he killed in a drunk-driving accident as a teenager. Superior characterization, an exquisitely detailed setting and superbly orchestrated suspense set this above the usual run of horror novels. Only Janine's inexplicable attraction to the feckless Spencer rings a false note.

One word. Yawn.

El Rancho, I think you have the wrong end of the stick their partner.

From what i can read the film is about some 20 something types who charter a boat for an adventure crusie out into the Pacific Ocean when they come across some seriously evil bastard on an old fishing boat in the middle of the deep blue sea (as they say). Apparantly from then on in there is 'blood in the water and no one escapes'.....

Also the tag line that the film makers are using on their poster is "Everyone must pay" so you gotta guess that it has something to do with Charon or The Ferryman of Greek mythology....

Well thats my 2 euros. Anyone else got anything to add?

Hi all,

Was just checking out Wolf Creek at my local HMV which reminded me to ask for any further updates on Rogue. Ant to be had? Any production stills?

Thanks all,
