Numerous sites state that although "Tom Cruise's latest film, M:I III, has yet to hit theaters, there is reporting of a proposed sequel. Cruise states that he has a script in-mind and hopes to film in Japan". Saw MI III and IT KICKED MY ASS! I cannot wait for a fourth (and perhaps final) kick ass installment. Although most movies stop after 3, I sincerely hope that Cruise re-prises his role of Ethan Hunt even if for only one more outing. COMMENTS WELCOME:!:

I'm all for this, but only if JJ Abrams returns to direct. Mission Impossible III kicked major ass. By far the best of the series.

ugggh
The only way I'd see it is if John Rhys Meyers and Maggie Q reprise their roles from MI3. Watching their scenes together was like a constant battle in my head to be gay or straight, depending on which one was on screen.

The Ving Rhames interview suggests there will be a fourth as well. I doubt JJ Abrams will be back just because Cruise has opted for a different director every time - ones with unique styles. So who knows who he'll tap to helm the fourth.

Thanks bigred, you're the man! ;)
I actually wrote out a script a long time ago around the time that the first movie came out but I've stuck it away and I can't find it now. :(

that's too bad, could've been your ticket.
I'd love to see Mission Impossible 4, but only on one condition, that a NEW director is signed. I absolutely had no problem with Abrams' direction of MI3 though. My point is that, IF they continue MI as a franchise, they should bring a new director to every NEW chapter, so we can have a taste of other directors direction and style. I'd PAY to see dat.
Oh yeah... if Fincher is still up for it after he does Benjamin Button, then WOOHOO I'd pay 20 dollars to see his cut.

I was thinking of Fincher shortly after I wrote the Ving Rames interview post in this thread. I'm hoping Cruise keeps him in mind for the next one and that he's interested.

I think paramount might put the sequel on hold due to this weekend, until they see how dvd sales perform.
It will be a Hit overseas for sure, but as of right now its heading for 130 mil in domestic box office, so i think they wanna see how the dvd sales perform, b4 they move along with the project.

M:I-3 may have underperformed but it's no bomb either and it will definately make a decent profit if not domesticly, then definately internationally

True, but the question isnt just making profit on MI3, Its about how much will MI4 be made for and how much box office potential might it have?

I agree. If there can be 20+ James Bond movies then I think we can get at least a few more M:I movies.

Greengrass has already done this kind of movie with The Bourne Supremacy.
But I'd love to see what Mann would do with this franchise. That would kick serious ass!

Judging from previous films, he would bring grittiness and urban realism to this series had he ever made a new chapter. (see "Heat" and "Collateral" for references)
